Default this is not compatible with your car...

how often you face this after a long search?
recently i was checking for replacements for the crank and cam shafts sensor and faced this again. it says that it is not compatible with my car.
but the thing is... is the part number on my sensor, and the car came with it and is working just great!

https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-OEM-Bos...-/151564518198
who or what we could trust after all?
(by the way, my car is a 2005 limited coupe)

That's the wrong part - you want this one:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-Be...YAAOSwxYxUtCfS

You simply search "2003 Mercedes SLK320 Camshaft Position Sensor".

but i found a list of several that are the same-or can replace 1 another. in other words, that are interchangeable:
Interchange Part Number: 272 905 00 43

0 232 103 114,
004 153 96 28
0041539628
0 232 103 050
any can be used in place of another. all work fine.
that explains why you are right, and me too.

look at the bottom of this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-OEM-Bos...-/151564518198

this is another 1 that tells "this does not fit" but my car came with it and works well:

Amazon states that this CPS from Bosch fits my car! Even states that this CPS is the original OEM part.

The advice from pizzaguy is one I would listen to. I use a similar search whenever I look for parts only I use the 2004 M-B SLK320 model. Same R170 M-B series so no difference.

i know it is bad when an ad tells you that it fits but does not.
but what about an ad that tells you that it does NOT fit your car but it does because you have had it in your car for a long time and works fine.
and then the same ad tells at the bottom that this fits and also others that provides the part number.
this is what i would like to understand.

From my perspective, if you feel confident that the replacement sensor(s) you've found are exactly the same as those installed in your car, then purchase them. My 2 cents would be to purchase the ones recommended by others as those sensors are known to be reliable.

Good Luck,

From what I can tell, the sensor(s) you've identified for us are listed as being compatible with the M-B R-171 SLK Series, which went into production for the 2005 model year. Are the engines different compared to the one in our Crossfire? There were some design changes that occurred, one of which was larger displacement (350 vs. 320). Are the Bosch sensors different between the series? Who knows? You're telling us that the sensor(s) for the R-171 Series are installed in your car (no reason to doubt what you are telling us), which would verify to us that the sensors are interchangeable between models. Very Interesting!!

facts
when i got the car i began to search for advice and learned somewhere that it was convenient to replace the sensors, as there is no way to measure the wear, so i ordered these specific as advised (also, that had to be bosch).
but dont remember who, neither where i got them. and when i replaced them, the 1s that were before happened to be exactly the same part number (and of course bosch). but neither i know since when the car has been using these.
at the end of the day, the fact is that these work. the car runs as smooth as silk.

now, regarding the others mentioned at the ad:
Interchange Part Number: 0 232 103 050 / 0232103050, 0 232 103 114 / 0232103114, 272 905 00 43 / 2729050043, 004 153 96 28 / 0041539628 Brand: OEM Bosch Manufacturer Part Number: 0 04 15 39628 / 0041539628 / 0 232 103 050 Fitment Type: Direct Replacement Other Part Number: 2729050043 / 0232103114
i wish i could learn from a reliable source if they are really interchangeable. it would be of great help to increase the possibilities to get replacements at a fair price.
but, how could any1 find out this?

Cam position sensor question. I trusted a parts listing that said a 2003 Mercedes-Benz SLK320 Base Convertible 2-Door 3.2L 3199CC V6 GAS SOHC Naturally Aspirated.should have Bosch part 0232103037. When I took out the original cam position sensor it was Bosch part 0232103050. The part was original based on the manufacture date. After a short drive the engine seems to run the same but I am worried so I plan to bring the original part and tools with me when ever I drive the car. I am wondering if I should order the original part number and install it. Any opinions?

I should add that the parts listing says the original part in my 2005 limited roadster NA (0232103050) does not fit a 2003 0r 2004 SLK320 3.2L NA!!

I have accumulated a list of part numbers, many have been upgraded and renumbered over the years. I have 0232103037 as the current number.

Thank you for your reply that makes me feel much better.

FYI the original part in my car (0232103050) is still produced and is about half the cost at $27. I noticed that it fits the SLK350 motor.
