Default will this help or hurt performance?

here in tx we fight pretty high heat. i was thinking that removing my belly pan and leaving it off would help underhood temps. i don't think it'll add to dust collection under there since i'm getting plenty of that threw the grill anyways. i don't drive my car 150+ either so i don't think i'll notice any turbolence. any thoughts or suggestions?

Doubt you would notice a difference. The pan is pretty open towards the back, it is certainly not an "air tight" seal.

If you are not "overheating" or driving it hard, cooling should not be a problem.

Ours has been off for months. Helps with cool offs between runs. For a daily driver it may not be necessary.

my daily drive involves stop and go to 80mph then stop then go for 45miles. after setting still, or slow, my car drops power badly. even though there may be plenty of flow, there is minimal setting still except what the fan pulls threw. i think its coming off for a trial next oil change.

I put a thermometer in the engine compartment to gauge air flow for air intake purposes. So far (less than one week) I see that there is a lot of air exchange in a moving vehicle. The hottest the thermo read was 40-50 degrees higher. That was in stop and go traffic on a mid 70s day. Normally, the temp is only around 10-20 degrees higher than outside, and I haven't got a chance to see how it is on the highway.

A couple of things to note are, I removed the baffles in the grill area that hold the stock air intake. That opened up the grill area alot. Another thing to take note of is even tho the thermo reads higher than outside air, it is a large object that retains alot of heat, so it's readings are going to be higher than the air flowing in the compartment.

To sum it up, I think there is a good amount of air exchange (at least for me with the baffles removed) in the engine area. Hope this helps.
