quick ? about using a jack on my car
i plan on changing my oil for the first time this wkend and wanted to know if there is any reason to not put the jack in the middle front of the car instead of jacking up one side, putting a jack stand in place and then jacking up the other side? seems like it would be easier to only have to jack it up in one spot rather than two.
Sorry I can't answer you question because I have never tried it. The belly pan may get in the way. If the crossmember seems strong enough, I don't see why you couldn't.
I made a set of ramps years ago out of 2x8 boards. One longer than the next, nailed together, 3 high. That is more than enough room to reach the oil plug. Much easier and safer.
Good luck, James

I did my first oil change last month with no ramps. Just used a rachet to remove the four screws holding the cover on the bottom, then a bigger rachet on the drain plug. Reaching the rear two took some effort, but it was not all that hard to do.
My drain pan fit under the car, no problem!

Without going out into the cold (63*) and checking I'd say no.
First off you can't see any crossmembers with the belly pan in the way so you would have to take that off first.
Then you would have to have a loooow profile jack.
And it would have to be pretty looong to reach in far enough.
I think...

I'd also say you need to get under there anyway and get close and personal with yer ride.
It'll give you a chance to get familiar with the car and to inspect things.
