Default '04 crossfire w/ 80,000 miles, has lifter noise

My 04 CROSSFIRE has ticking in the engine. Goes away after new pil change but comes back shortly after. No problems with power or anything. Someone told me to add a cleanser to the oil like SEA FOAM before an oil change and ot would remove the ticking. I'm just worried that it's a sticky lifter or that I keep need the lifters tightened. Can anyone please help! I am not good working on cars and appreciate any suggestions!!! Thank you!

How can you hear any noises with that exhaust?

Lol! How you doing? I hear the noise at idle only and mostly when I'm going through a drive through. It's sounds like it's dry at start up and quiets a few seconds later. I hope it's nothing! I'm the second owner and the first owner kept up with all of it's services and I do early oil changes.

I'm doing better. My Eurocharged cable came today, so I am going in monday to JBARacing for a pre-tune dyno pull. Then I'll make an appointment with Eurocharged for the tune. JBA is giving me a pre-tune pull and a post tune pull, so we can compare the numbers.

That's cool! Albert and I are going to be cruising with a HUGE group of cars from where Supercar Sunday is to McKenna BMW. McKenna is going to furnish lunch and refreshments for everyone! 65 cars going so far! Hit Albert up for more details if your interested! Oh, I believe it's on Saturday, August 11!

Sounds like fun, but. I have to be up early Sunday the 12th. JBA has their own cars and coffee on the 2nd Sunday of every month. Free donuts and coffee for everyone. Everyone is invited to do burnouts. This month the piles of rubber were so high they looked like Black Sand Dunes!

You should check out their website. JBARacing.com Lots of cool pics. They never had a Crossfire there before, they really liked my car and took several pics.

I have the same issue with the ticking...thought it might be the fuel injectors...

It's common in all mileage of these cars. Pretty sure it's the injectors.

This topic comes up every once in a while here. All of these engines' injectors "tick".

Go compare your car to a few others at a GTG. I kinda wondered about my Red Roadster until my first Dragon and listened to all the other cars, both the tick and all the quiet but odd noises at cold startup.

THey all sounded similar.

Don't listen to these guys! I have been told by very reliable sources that this is a very dangerous situation and there is only one solution to the problem.

You need to take your car to a very remote location, park it with the motor running. Get out and run like hell!

Oh!, and please call me with the location of the car.

But just so you can alert the public to the danger, right?

Of course! What other reason could there be?

I just want to thank everyone for their feedback! I'll start my car and put my ear to a hose and use it like a thesiscope to search for the sound. If it's the injectors, I guess I'll be releaved that it's not the motor!

Be sure and save that hose. If it turns out to be a serious problem, just move the hose from your ear to your mouth and inhale deeply. No more problems!
