iTrip
Hello everyone.
I have the 30G iPod video. I am looking at FM Transmitters because I like the idea of not having any wires going to my head unit. I have read so many reviews where people buy this product, hate it, and take it back. They claim that it has static in THEIR car and THEIR iPod. Does anybody have the same iPod as I and have the iTrip (one w/ LCD screen)? If so, how does it do in the Crossfire?

Before I got the crossfire, I had the iTrip for about a week. It worked fairly well with just a little bit of static in my GMC truck and VW Jetta TDI. The channel selection thing in the playlist wasn't very handy. After a week it just quite transmitting. I think the problem had something to do with the male part that plugs into the headphone jack.
I took it back and bought a Monster iCarPlay. It works great and I am very happy with it. It also charges the iPod. I have used it with the 30 gig 3rd generation iPod and the iPod Mini. The downside is, it plugs into the lighter, and doesn't just run of the iPod battery.

Sorry, I never had a chance to try the iTrip in the Crossfire. Mine was the older model that plugged into the top of the iPod.
I was unaware that there was a newer model out. I checked out the Griffin site and discovered the model you were posting about. The design of the newer one (which plugs into the bottom) would eliminate the type of failure I experienced and solves the problems with selecting the frequency from the playlist.
In short, I don't know how well the new one works, but now I am interested too! I like the no wires concept and even the older one worked quite well, when it was working.

I have the older iTrip that I use with a 3G, 15Gig iPod. It doesn't work well at all in my Crossfire Coupe, at least in town. I used the iTrip previously in my Jeep Cherokee and found that it works great out in the woods where there aren't many stations competing for my receiver's attention, but in town (Washington, DC) it just isn't powerful enough to drown out all the interference. I tried various frequencies, but there just isn't anywhere that's clean enough for the iTrip to work well.
