Best Sirius rig for XFI? KD-LHX550, or what?
Best Sirius rig for XFI? KD-LHX550, or what?
My wife is Christmas shopping early. I'm a Sirius devotee, and I like a clean, factory look. I saw the LHX-550 on the forum, but my wife was told it's not compatible (whatever that means).
I want to do this right the first time. Any wisdom for me? I'm starting a new thread in hopes of getting the latest information.
Thanks!

I haven't purchased a sirius system yet for my XF, but I did put two in my father's silverado and suburban.
I really like the Sirius units that transmit through a selected radio freq, you tune into. it really saves time during the installation. And it sounds just as good as a hard wired system!
As for the Kenwood head units, they're ok, but you can't take it with you or plug into the boom box or home docking kit. which sucks, the head unit is about $180 then you need to buy the satellite receiver which is about $100 extra. and that's not a portable system, it's always stuck in the truck.
hope this helps, I know I will be buying the transmitter version for my car!

although it appears to be discontinued (can't find it on crutchfield or sounddomain), your wife was misinformed... check it out http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...e-20/ref=nosim it has the sirius logo right on the faceplate. you just need to add the JVC Sirius adapter.

Thanks for responding. I had very poor reception with my old Sirius FM transmitter rig in a PT Cruiser; low gain, lots of hiss, and I live in an area with a radio station on every frequency. When I went hardwire, the performance was ten times better. That experience leaves me wanting a built-in.

I have the S-50. It does not fit into the dash, but I have the car kit installed on the passenger side of the center console up close to the dash. The best thing about it is that you can take it off and use it inside, or with the armband, I can run and bike with it on.

Anyway it works well. I also have the JVC ipod adapter... it doesn't work so well... it's slow and quirky... i have overcome this by configuring better playlists.
