I notice when the radio is off, there is a very noticeable noise from the speakers, I can hear even when I'm driving. Sounds like background noise, or when you tune in between radio stations. Does anyone experience the same?

 

Not sure from your description, but I randomly heard a series of static-y beeps from my turned off radio while taking a trip with my wife. Based on feedback from this forum, we confirmed that it was due to my wife having a Sprint cell phone sitting in the open ashtray while we drove. (I do not hear any noise with my Alltel phone). It appears that Sprint and maybe some other cell providers broadcast a frequency/signal that interacts with the electronics in the radio.

It's not caused by the cell phone. It is just a white noise coming from the speakers.

 

I don't mean to bump an old thread, but I have the same problem. I hear a tiny amount of static even when the radio is powered off. The hiss only goes away when I turn the key to the off postion. Its the only thing that is making me want a new radio.

 

You sure that it isn't your cell phone? My T-Mobile phone does the same thing, gives off feedback from the speakers...

 

I hear it too. You can hear the difference when you turn the car off. I think it's normal.

 

Someone from another thread suggested that it may be the ground problem of the radio.
