Angry cd skips

with every little bump or dip, is this normal for this car or is the radio /player defective?

Not normal. Try a CD player cleaner.

I have noticed that my CD player will skip every morning (Monday thru Friday) at the same exact spot on a local road when I am on my way to work each morning. The bump - well, it's actually a dip - that I am hitting does not seem to be that rough, but somehow the CD player picks up on it. I can drive over much rougher terrain and the CD plays fine. Anyway, that's the only time that it does it.

Call me crazy, but I swear that the CDs I make skip far more often than store-bought ones.

Not sure if anyone else has noticed, but the skipping problems seem to be more noticeable in colder weather, before the car has really warmed up.

My factory one did all of the time. It was the first thing to go.

I just starts actually playing CD's in mine and have noticed that a bump anything more than a small crack will skip. Probably ought to at least try to clean it. I am also using CD's that I have burned.

I would have to agree with the burned CD's they do not play as well as the store bought ones, and do skip more, but your CD player should not be skipping all the time, I think you have a defective CD player/radio. I have had mine replaced for the same thing, they are not the highest quality units, and not to mention I have had two x-fires now and both car radios were replaced, and everyone I get the #8 preset button does not always go to that station. If you have warranty get it replaced!!!

I drive over some really crappy streets in Brooklyn, CDs don't skip more than they did in any of my other cars. Doesn't matter whether I make them or they're originals.

The people who had their radio replaced under warranty, was this the factory warranty that came with the car, or was it a extended Chrysler warranty you can purchase? My CD palyer skips also and have the Maximum Care Warranty for it. Was just wondering if that warranty would justify replacing it..

It happened to me all the time, which is why I bought an aftermarket radio right after I bought the car. Plus the stock radio has no AUX input.

However you may have seen my post in the for sale forum, in the effort just to get a new one I bought one without it being sirius ready so now my Blaupunkt MP48 London is for sale and basically new. Great radio by the way and matches very well.
