Default Stereo guru needed.

I'm looking at changing the audio system in my car out and need help cause I dont know anything about anything as far as this stuff goes. I have great hearing and simply want my stereo to sound as good as possible and all the morons around hear no how to do is make the pictures around the neighborhood crooked(you know what i mean). What I'm hoping is that someone can reccomend a full system (i.e. head unit, amp, subs, speakers, etc.) in which all the components work together, relatively simple to run(really, i have an IQ of 183 but will almost certainly F*** up a stereo if there are too many ***** and numbers to mess with), sounds superb, and requires no real modification to the car as that I may want to put the stock system back in if ever i sell it. Cost is not too big of a concern, there's not really any expensive performance or cosmetic mods to make as i have on other vehicles so a couple thousand on an audio system isn't too bad. Oh, and I really dont care too much about the look or color of the head unit, simplicity is definately a plus though, not really into screens or crazy flashing lights. Really high quality sound without drilling or cutting is the main goal. Thanks ahead of time for anyone who replies.

Hmm.. Simple..take it to a stereo dealer/installer .. I would recommend JL audio, and have them do it for you.

The problem is there isn't a good one around here, all we have is guys that know how to install giant subwoofers and shake everything within a 500 yard radius. Hell, I sat in the car that belongs to the owner of the biggest local audio place and it was like they took what is wrong with our system(too much mid-bass) and amplified it. It wasnt even turned up that loud and i couldnt even make out what song we were listening to. And this was his example of their best custom application. I wonder if someone could compile a list of components that will work together and wont require modification of the car. They're knowledgeable enough to install them I just dont trust their reccomendations as car as the system itself goes.

When you say no modification of the car.. do you mean drilling? What about little holes to run wires through?

As long as they're hidden, basically just so i can reinstall the factory setup to sell the car if need be with no resounding evidence that there was something else there.

Let's put this more simply.
For someone who know a lot about car audio.
Build your dream system, one rule though, you have to be able to reinstall the factory setup afterward without being able to tell it was ever modified.

If there's one thing I've learned about my Crossfire, (from several different technicians at multiple Chrysler dealerships), it's that the electrical system in these cars are extremely complex. If you're thinking about buying ANY aftermarket components (that will connect into the electrical/wiring system of the car), make sure to check with a certified service tech before making the purchase... just to make sure that they are confident about their ability to install it. I've already talked to a couple "certified" techs (at the dealership) that won't even touch ANYTHING electrical that is an aftermarket add-on... including stereo systems.

There are probably a lot of forum members who feel so confident in their own ability, that they would never think of taking it to the dealership. My advice: if it's electrical... take it to someone who is certified. And just because they're certified doesn't mean they're going to want to touch it. Find someone who will... who KNOWS the electrical "quirks" of this car.

Personally, I'm considering replacing the stock Infinity system with a Pioneer AVIC-N4. It is the MAC-daddy if you ask me... CD/DVD/FM/AM/NAV system, all-in-one... with a nice size full-color screen. It will fit perfectly into the existing space. Here's the link: http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...ione er&tp=144

But, whatever you decide to go with, make sure you've got someone knowledgable and willing to install it, (emphasis on the "knowledgable"), before you make the purchase.

Don't know how far these guys are from where you are but if they are close they are highly recommended. They have built several vehicles for us in the past. http://www.stanscarstereo.com/

I had a Alpine PDX 4.100 amp installed by a local shop. They were able to install it in the same spot where the factory amp was, under the passenger floor.I also changed the speakers to Pioneer TS-C720PRS.Everything fit perfectly with no drilling or other modifications. I kept the factory headunit. The sound is 100 percent better. Very clear and loud.I also dyna mated the doors. Hopefully you can find a good stereo shop to do the work.I purchased the amp and speakers online and saved enough on them to pay the install price.

I did a complete JL system, using NAZAR's box.

Oh, by the way, I'm an audiophile, not a bass head. Everything is high quality, flat, and realistic response. The sound stage using the factory front speakers is quite nice for such a small car. www.advantageaudio.net
