Default Just bought a XFire, want to Install Double DIN radio

Pioneer just put out this radio..

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...mier/FH-P800BT

Will it fit in the crossfire? It's a double din, so would I need custom work? Or any suggestions for a single din that has the same functions? bluetooth, sirius radio ready, etc.

There are several threads on here regarding folks that have done the double DIN modification to the center console. I don't have links, but I can describe both of the mods I would try and one I think that was only photoshopped.

1. Move the window switches section to the center console and french it in just behind the mirror adjustment switch sideways replacing the cupholder area. Then you have room for a double DIN unit.

2. Loose your center vents and move everything up to make room for the double DIN.

3. Only photoshopped so far (I think). Remove the ash tray, cigar lighter. Relocate the passenger side airbag off warning light somewhere else and use that section to gain the space for a double DIN.

Other than that, there is always the option of building it in just above the center console between the seats, but there may not be enough space. And I don't think you could 'french' it in very far as that wall behind the seats is structural and behind that is your fuel tank. Not only that, but it would be not usable for a NAV system. I would only do that if it was a regular head unit with a nice big graphic display to 'bounce with the sound'

Good luck!

not to crush your dreams, but why go to all the work and spend all the money installing a 2-DIN stereo that doesn't do anything more than a 1-DIN will do?

I could see installing the AVIC systems or some other Navigation/multimedia because of the nice large screen, but that just doesnt make sense to me..

actually the car you are referring to is in fact real. if we are not referring to the same car then i can tell you it has actually been done. the car i, at least, am referring to, is the alpine demo car. they actually did remove ashtray, lighter, etc. and move the buttons down to fit the doule-din... there is a picture in someones gallery im sure.

ZAHANMA,

Yeah, I noticed that a few hours after my post and just didn't bother to go back and correct it.

I still can't picture putting in a double DIN unit if there is no nav function at the very least. DVD playing is kinda silly if you ask me.
