A kind word about the stock nav system...
I was reading Road and Track's review of the Pontiac G8 in the June issue and ran across this passage:
In a surprising tech twist, the Pontiac G8 GT's navigation system has become my favorite OEM model in the automotive kingdom — especially amazing as the car doesn't have a nav system...in the traditional sense, anyway.
Hit the OnStar button on the rearview mirror, an operator comes on loud and clear and asks if you need driving directions. Tell him where you'd like to go, and the driving directions get down-loaded to the car, with left/right/straight arrows and distance appearing on the small information center screen between the tachometer and speedometer, accompanied by equally clear audible directions.
The G8's nav system display looks much like the one on the stock nav radio. No moving map, just arrows and voice prompts. On the plus side, we don't have to pay a subscription fee. On the downside, G8 owners don't have to worry about map updates.

Definitely. Our nav system is no bargain. I was simply pointing out that the interface has been praised in other contexts.
