Default Kudos to Griffin!

I got a Griffin Roadtrip with Smartscan (http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/roadtrip) for my birthday yesterday. So far, it seems to be a good match for the Crossfire. All I did was plug it in, performed the SmartScan search function, tuned my radio to the displayed frequency, and listened to clear, uninterrupted broadcast. I am extremely picky about this, so I am hard to please; however, this seems to me to be a good solution to our iPod remedy and the stock head unit. It also doesn't look bad either. I will have pictures up soon.

I have a predecessor to this as well as a DLO TransPod. The model I have doesn't have SmartScan and the tuning of the station is done via the iPod screen. There are 3 good stations that I can use around the greater Philly area and most of S. Jersey. I've seen some pretty good reviews of the model you have.

The Roadtrip is great in terms of positioning options and taking up little space, but the TransPod has a much stronger transmitter. For the 3 good stations I can use with the Roadtrip there are 10 to 12 I can use with the TransPod. This, of course, will vary by region. Still, the TransPod has a short arm and an awkward extension arm that I won't use. Even with an AutoStick, it gets in the way a little when going near Reverse in the gate.

I'll also take some pics of both to post them, as I think both are useable options for the Crossfire system. I switched back to the Roadtrip last week because it annoys me that the TransPod gets in the way.

Happy 16th, by the way. Have you gone solo in the Xfire yet?

Aw shucks, I was looking forward to a million more questions once the installation of something more complicated started....

Will settle for pictures of this install and any review of how it sounds!

A word of advice: The SmartScan function doesn't always do the best job at choosing the best stations. What I did was cycled through the stereo stations and found the biggest gap. i.e. 99.7 picked up, and the next one to pick up after was 101.1. That's a pretty big gap in frequency so I set the Roadtrip to 100.5, a happy medium between the two. This is where I found the highest quality.
