Default stock amp?

I'm looking to have all of the speakers replaced, probably with Alpine, keeping the factory radio because I can't find anything to match that silver plastic in the car. I just started today going to different shops and asking about prices/recommendations, etc. Nowhere I went knew if the crossfire had 1 main amp for all of the front speakers, or if there were 4 separate amps. They told me I could either go find out myself, or have them remove the door panels and find out Just figured someone here knows the answer to this question.

Also, any recommendations for speaker brand, type, and whatnot would be appreciated. I'm also going to install 1 or 2 subs in the back, looking at 8-12 inch. My understanding is that FritzAuf? installed a box on that sloping part in the trunk. That would be perfect if I could get how he did it or where he got it.

I did a modest system, using NAZAR's box. I used JL ZR series components. (The stock woofers are 7 inch, though) The crossfire has one amp. Here are a few pics from my gallery:

I don't have them but I read great reviews on the Infiniti Kappa's Component Speakers.

There is one amp under the floor on the passenger side. It runs all the speakers through the front channel of the amplifier (even the subs).

I swapped out the head unit (sound and music sources were more important to me than color of face plate) and run rear speakers and sub out of the appropriate rear output channels on the new head unit. This has improved bass response, stereo imaging and sound-stage immensely. It also enabled the use of integrated iPod control, XM, HD Radio, USB, and separate control of the rear speakers and subwoofer. All this more than makes up for the unit not being silver. I saved the factory box to put back if I sell...

I used Infinity reference series speakers for the rear and the Infinity BassLink with 200 watt amp/10 inch driver. Speakers are a personal thing and everyone likes their own brand. I used Infinity because I have experience with them and know what to expect.

Awesome 1 main amp means its going to be much cheaper. Everywhere I went said it'd be a pain in the *** if it was 4 separate amps.

And i was thinking. Im going to need the subs to be protected in some way, either having them out of the way up on the slanted part, or covered by something. I drive me and another kid to school in the morning every day and I don't want our backpacks and the rest off our stuff to smash into the speaker accidentally. Thoughts?

I bought a unit that has one ten-inch driver, with a 10-inch passive radiator, enclosed in a casing with a 200 watt amp and some controls built in. (Infinity BassLink) I ran power, remote level control, and remote power-on activation. I did go the extra mile and build a platform (4 inches high) to bolt it onto (the factory floor is too flimsy). I also got a piece of carpeting to cover it from prying eyes and sun... For me this gave me a protected driver, the amp problem solved at the same time, and a fairly clean (and reversible) install.

I added a 750w max 600rms amp, and it has brought up all kinds of current draw problems. expect to deal with that if your going to run hardcore power, not that my amp is hardcore. chris
