Default iPod ready Pioneer DEH-2100ib Install and Colormatch

Hey all,

I purchased the Pioneer DEH 2100ib for the iPod compatibility. I didn't want a front USB or Aux adapter, I wanted something I could route behind the dash so that I wouldn't have to plug and hide my Ipod every time I park (stealing).

The only downside IMO, is Pioneer. Their customer service is horrible. The manual states this unit works with the iPod mini, it doesn't. After 18 minutes holding on their 1-800 line, I hung up and sent them an e-mail. Once my iPod was plugged in my display would just show "Set Up" forever.

The Cliffs:

-I get an e-mail back from a Mike at Pioneer customer service. His reply states I should call in so that they can better assist me .

-I tell him I already did, and waited for 18 minutes. Also, the call center was closed by the time he wrote back. I explain the issue, again.

-Mike tells me their receiver doesn't ever display "Set Up". Then concludes I should visit a nearby retailer to see if they can fix it.

1. It's a brand new stereo, I'm not driving an hour to pay a retailer to "fix it".
2. I can't believe their own CS Reps don't know their product. It's all over Google that customer are having the "Set Up" glitch.

Anyway, I bought a new iPod nano. It was about time anyway.

Being on hold for 18 minutes isn't that big of a deal, at least to me anyways.

The receiver looks good.

Although I'll never really understand the purpose of an iPod mini / nano.

iPod classic's aren't that big to begin with, and they hold an astronomical amount over the nano's.. 8GB for 160GB for $100 is worth it to me.

Thanks!

I work in customer service for a large insurance company, 18 minutes is *much* too long of a wait. Honestly, the rule of thumb for good CS is any hold over two minutes should be offered a call back.

I picked the nano as I was certain it was compatible with the head unit. I doubt I'll ever have over 4,000 songs anyway.

Wish I worked in Insurance. In IT it is quite another story, call any of the big guys, Microsoft, Dell, HP, Symantec, Intel and if you are ONLY on hold for 18 minutes, you are a lucky SOB

Especially in your case, as they already had your money. Terrible I know, but a sad reality. And do not get me started on out sourced tech support
