Wanna sub in my Base
Hi guys!
It's time to put a sub in my UNlimited roadie. However, I need help. I can do all the head unit installs, and door speakers, but I'm not too bright when it comes to subs in the roadster.
I have tried to search, but to no avail. I tried! Honest!
Can someone point to a thread where a sub was added to a roadster?
And, where the hell can I get/make a special tool to yank out the failed OEM head?
Thanks much,
E

Thanks bro! Any part number for the tools? I LOATH walfart. I feel so dirty after even driving by.
And, forgive my ignorance, which seat?
Or, since I have a plethora of shop tools available to me, can you stick a ruler next to the tools? Maybe I can fab a set and send them to anyone that needs them.

Go here: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ollection.html, and download the service manual. It will show you how to remove the subwoofer. It is on the lower drivers side, behind the seat. I purchased a set of the removal keys from Walmart a couple of weeks ago. It was a set of 3 or 4 different keys for around 5 bucks. Just look at the pic, there is nothing else that comes close to that shape.
Hi, is there a pre made hole in the back, or du you have to take on up yourselfe and is it pre wired? Moust of modern cars have the same wiering to all their modells
I know the gastank is back there.
How did your mount go?

Bob, you are usually not one for misinformation, but this time, you are off base (no pun intended

While I am not nearly as well versed on the roadster, if you need some advice, let me know.

Great, but i do not want to hawe it in my trunk. I mean, they do not make a cover behind the seats for all models, is there a space from factory to put a sub behinde the driver seat?
x use for my spelling, but it is late here 11,30 pm and it is Friday, so some cups of wine has been down the pipes

Hello again!
Ok i bought a sub and tryed to install it with the pre drawn wires that i found in the trunk,
and yes the sub has a amp installed. Connected it all, and it did NOT work
Then i took out the radio and found that the cables was not connected to the radio.
After digging with my hand in the radiocompartement i found the cable that is going to the subs. But the contakt did not suite any connections on the back of the radio.
We called the contakt a bananacontakt, it,s those that you are using for stereo or tv, before the scart came.
-Now over to the big question. What do i need to bridge it to the radio and where should i put it. Does anybody have a picture or drawings from the back of the radio?
I,we been looking at the servicemanuals, and didn,t found a thing.
But, to you that fixed all the manuals. A big hurray

Do you have power or ground cables to the rear, what about a remote turn on lead??
Hello!
I went to a carelectric, an i found a "bridge" that connected to the upper right side of the radio, with the cables from the trunk
when you looking from the back.
Yes i have seperate cables that has power to the rear. But it isn,t working : (

Signal cable
- more than likely red and white RCA plugs
power
- probably a thick red cable under the hood that needs to to be connected directily to the battery
ground
- another thick lead, some use a chassis ground and some a true battery ground
remote turn on
- much smaller in diameter than the power/ground wires and usually paired with the RCAs, comes from the back of the deck to tell amp to turn on
Hope this helps.
Thank,s Boiler. I have all that connected but i still not getting the low signal output.
They gave me a connection at a Blaupunkt dealer with 6 small contacts that fitts the right
upper contakt. But still no sound. I will follow your advice an look at a more modern Radio

If you are considering a new HU, here is an option that might work for you if you like to use an iPod with your HU. It is an Alpine IDA-X100M, and I really like it so far. I ran the iPod cable to the console between the seats.

Bob, you are usually not one for misinformation, but this time, you are off base (no pun intended
). A base roadster/coupe does not have sub in the rear wall behind the seats, it only has the 2 pairs of components in the front and a 2 channel amp.
What I did with mine was add another pair of components to the spot where the limited guys have the subs (on the wall behind the seats) and then add a pair of subs to the trunk and it sounds great.
