Default Did my amp blow or what!?

I was driving along and I was scrolling through my music when all of a sudden all the speakers stopped working; except for what is located behind the seats, and even that was muffled. I am perplexed and ready to take it to the dealer (still got warranty) Any ideas as to what happened?
Thanks for any and all input!
James

I have the pioneer DEH-P5000UB installed. WAS going to buy a new radio this week; but now I need to resolve this issue first! Or could it be the radio? Any tips???

Did you check the three fuses for the radio. There's two for the radio and one for the amp.

Did that! Actually........this morning when i got in the car, everything worked fine. but after a few minutes, the sound became intermittent. Eventually going back to just hearing the rear speaker again. AMp or radio is the question. I'm getting a new radio regardless but would love to have this issue straight before installing it!

I would check all the connections at your wiring harness. I assume you used the scoche VW harness to tie everything in without having to cut any wires....

I would be weary of taking it to the dealer, b/c with your aftermarket deck, they will simply blame you or the install shop and not cover anything because modifications have been made (however minor). I would slide the factory deck in there and see how everything works, and if you still have the same issue, take it to the dealer with the OEM deck and you will have NO issues. Then when you get your new deck, you will be certain there is nothing else going on and you can enjoy it

Okay.........here's the follow up report.

Discovered that the wiring that comes into the door was being pinched by my lambo door hinges. they fixed the wiring but now the sound is only half of what comes out of the left side. Almost sounds as if the amp is being bypassed. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated. I am taking it back to the dealer next week. By the way.....................the wiring was not covered under my warranty.

I am having the same issue.. The radio cut in and out.. Seems like when warm the sounds cuts out and you only hear a muffled bass from the rear speakers. I had them check the head unit and that was not it.
I called Chrysler today and a new amp is over $1800.00 up from $376.00 last year. The only thing I can think of is the amp. Does anyone know about this issue??

Wow. They seem to be dying left and right. I get intermittent sound out of my speakers. The dealer analzyed the problem and it's the amp. It will take at least a week to get a new one, and Yes, I still have the factory warranty - at 34,000 miles, so thank goodness it died now! I do have an aftermarket head unit, but they were pretty cool about that, and as I had the car at the dealership with the radio working and then after they did some other work it wasn't they didn't give me a hard time...

Was it the amp, did you manage to fix it or did you have to buy a new one?
