NAV systems update available?
Before I begin really searching: does anyone know if NAVTECH ever made any other CD disc formatted GPS products that may be used in the XF? Available anywhere?
THANK YOU GENTLEMEN. I am going to check and see if the FORD motor company has a compatible disc system as mentioned in another post. It's just that it's really odd being told I'm "Off Road" on the screen in the middle of a busy highway...irksome.
We will all be happy if you can come up with something, but just know that this has been a problem for over 4 years and SO MANY of us have tried... and got no where.
I'll bet ya lunch at the next get-to-gether that you don't get anywhere!

Thanks again gentlemen. I'll wear out the apparently well worn path down this way again. Maybe the scenery has changed. BTW Pizza Guy.. I like deep dish everything style.
My NAV system recently starting malfunctioning. It is no longer picking up a satellite signal. When I press the satellite button, it reads back with a big "0". Any ideas as to the solution? Faulty receiver? It's an SRT-6 with less than 10,000 miles..

Slip another unit in and see if that works, it may be tough to find but it would give you an answer.
Have you tried to reset it?
After our units were outdated manufacturers either starting using DVD drives in their navs because they hold much more info and only need one disc or they went to hard drives altogether. We are orphan children.
Navteq probably couldn't see the economics in compiling updates on CD for a nav unit with such low volume as this Becker unit. Meh, it works OK for most destinations. For less than the price of the Navteq update DVD for our Pacifica ($199), you can buy a new Garmin portable. I'm sure if they did offer an update for our cars it would be priced in the same range. I'll just keep my Garmin handy as a backup.
BTW, Garmin has offered voice commands for a few years now and it works pretty well with a steering wheel mounted button to prompt for commands. That's a nice step up from our "unique" OEM solution with no map and no voice commands. My Garmin also records the location where it was last powered down as a "find my car" feature. And it can call up 911 services (police, fire, hospital) at the touch of a button. I'm not gonna worry too much about the fading maps in our OEM unit.
