Default auto interior lights

Hey guys. My auto interior lights aren't working when I open the doors... the light works fine when I press the button. The dimmer on the dash isn't on the lowest setting. Any ideas on what else it could be? Mind u, I've got the door panels ripped off to put in new speakers.

There is also a slide switch to disable the lights on the dome light assy itself.

I have a 2005 limited, my interior lights don't come on when I open the driver's door (the chimes for key in the ignition and lights on works) also the lights come on when the passenger door and hatch is opened. anybody have an idea how to fix this?

If you leave the door open long enough they will automatically switch off.
Also removing the door panels requires the removal of a trim piece that operates the switch. Without this trim piece the switch is fully extended and is not touched by the door. After a time the auto switch off function will kick in and turn off the lights. Pressing the switch and releasing it will turn the lights on again until they time out again.

Thanks for the tips but I don't think that addresses my problem - my interior lights don't come on when I open the drivers door...

You do have the switch on the light switched to the on position?

The sliding black switch behind the light (toward the rear) can be used to keep the lights off all the time. maybe your sliding switch is in the wrong position.

We cater to the slow, the fast and the furious in your case we have covered two of the three, not bad.

The 2 door switches input ground to the Central Locking Pump / Security System Module on pins 14 & 16.
This module then inputs to the Body Control Module on pins 52 & 78.
The BCM then decides whether or not to supply ground to the interior light switch on pin 3.

Piece of cake !!!

( there is a schematic and troubleshooting procedure in the service manual available under the link kindly provided by Mr. 180 in all his posts. )

We ask the question because that is the answer that fitted the question asked in post #8. The answer is not your answer.

To answer your question highlighted above the answer is yes.
