Convertible Subwoofer Solution - Help
2005 Crossfire SRT6 Convertible Subwoofers - Wiring Question
I started to work on my Stereo system in my 2005 Crossfire SRT6 Convertible. There was no sound coming from the rear speakers.
I found that a previous owner installed 2 replacement single coil (non subwoofer) speakers in place of the original subwoofers
I just purchased 2 new 6.5" Dual Voice coil 2 ohm subs to hopefully get these rear speakers working.
The problem I am having is the wiring.
The Factory Wires for each speaker are in tact. But I do not have the other 1/2 of the Plug. So can someone help me with
where the 4 Wires Go?
I see these colors going into the Plug for Right Sub
BL/RD
BK/YL
VT
RD/ YL
and I see these colors going into the plug for Left Sub
PK
DG
BL
BR/RD
Does anyone have any Info that can Help me?
Thanks, Greg

Re: Convertible Subwoofer Wiring Question
First, using an email address as a username is asking for it. Every 'bot and spammer will now have what they are sure is a legitimate email address; get ready to be blasted as this is a public forum and google bots as well as every other 'bot has access. (If our signup page does not say that, it damn well should.)
Second, the manual has so many errors, it's not worth even trying, IMO. If you want to try, here you go.
I tried to make sense out of what I found on page 8W-47-6 of the service manual, its obvious the diagram is wrong.
BL/RD Coil 2+
BK/YL Coil 1-
VT Coil 1+
RD/ Y Coil 2-
PK Coil 1-
DG Coil 2+ If this speaker acts odd, reverse these two wires at the speaker.
BL Coil 1+
BR/RD Coil 2-
Personally, I can tell you that you are probably wasting your time. The factory's "4 into 2" and dual coil speaker configuration was asinine in the 1990s when it was introduced, to say nothing of 2004. Its now 2023, the reasonable thing to do is to throw away those idiotic dual coil speakers and put in single coil speakers and a modern amp, wiring for four channels at the same time.
But, go ahead, knock yourself out on that over designed, under performing abortion of a sound system.
