Default Reverse Cam and Car Mic Installation

Hey everybody

I recently have become a proud owner of a crossfire, always wanted one since they came out and finally was able to get hold of a good one

Hope somebody's knowledge is available for me here as I am trying to install a reverse cam and also a car mic (coga pa) and trying to find out how on earth to run the wires from the driver's said to the boot/trunk to get to the rear lights.

I have removed the half of the arm rest console to get my wires there as I recently moved the cigarette lighter there so I am hoping I can run wires from the arm rest through the boot, however I just found solid metal underneath the boot liner. Any ideas?

Also there are 3 wires coming out of the reverse lights and not sure what cable to splice to put my camera cable into. I am hoping its the live however all cars are different and cables are coloured differently so hopefully someone will know here

My car mic has a reverse soubeep nd hence why I am wanting to connect that to the other reverse light.

I have looked on threads and haven't found anything specific (unless I have missed it).

Any help you can give would be awesome

You should be able to hook into the backup rear lights, this will powerup the beeper. If you use a blue toothe camera and receiver ( could be a Cell Phone) mounted on dash. There are several on ebay from time to time. Thinking about doing it myself.

I managed to install the car mic today! I never connected it to the rear lights for the beeper, was just a silly idea I have ordered a 2 din sat nav dvd unit with reverse cam so waiting on that to come so I can install the rear view cam, the bluetooth idea sounds cool but wanted something that can do all the jobs ha Any idea which colour wire should I connect to the rear light for the camera?

Do you have a digital volt meter? It will indicate + and - . I would have to find a diagram of the wiring. There should be two wires, one is positive and the other is the ground or negative. Hooking up to the backup lights is a good idea becasue they only come on when the car is in reverse, so the camera would only be powered when car was in reverse or backing up.

Hi dtinker, Sorry for the delay,
I got my reverse cam installed and after a few hours I discover it dont work, serves me right fo rbuying the cheap rubbish from china! So I have settled for using the old fashioned method of using my head and eyes until I come across a good reverse cam for my car. Unless I did something wrong I dont know

Hi Mrmiata, as said above sorry for the delay, been away on holiday. Thankfully my old man will be doing the modifying for me (I'll just be buying him the beers) but rather than modify the unit and ruin it, he has decided to make one from scratch using wood- he is very good with making things so it should look very good. That way we still got the original should we ever need it. My partner will be painting it as she works for a car manufacturer so will get it colour coded and all. Now just the big wait for it to be done. Of course will post it up here once it's sorted
