Default Need new HU for Roadster.

Have got to upgrade the Infinity system in my SRT6 Roadster. Plan to replace the HU. Looking at all the threads on subs etc. and thinking you all must have Coupes. I notice two speakers behind my seats but assume that they are just regular speakers and not subs. Am I correct? If so I guess I should just get a decent HU that puts out 4+ amps and not worry about seperating anything? Please advise.

I thought the speakers behind the seats in the roadster WERE subwoofers...

Been through a lot of threads. Understand that most of the base goes to the door speakers and that some capacitance helps shove it to the rear. Also see how to replace the rear speakers. Not sure I want to do that. Still seems to me that as I read it, from the Infinity HU the speakers and sub leads are wired together to the amplifier so that it all comes out of all the speakers. Have I got it wrong? Interesting that when I play my iPod through the Infinity system it sounds great. Regular radio sounds awful. No base in contrast to what others have said.

Kinda sorta.. lol. HU leads run to the amp and there split into front and rear (subs) inputs.. capacitors block the frequencies that are considered too low for the door speakers to handle well. And with your Ipod.. well you've got it's frequencies "fine tuned" to your liking.. it's not like you've got a whole lot of playroom with the Infinity system. I've got my Clarion wired up exactly as the OEM setup.. with the exception of the base canon tapped in at the amp input lines.. and it sounds good enough I'm not overly motivated to go in and separate the "front to rear" control I can use with the new HU at the amps inputs.

Radio always has, is and will be horrible in comparison to any other form of media.

The speakers behind your seats are subs. The doors are mids and tweeters above. There are a billion things to do to make it sound better. I did the capacitor mod for a while.... wasnt impressed, it sounds good but what I did I believe is alot better. I wired the rear subs to the rear output of my HU. Im not sure the stock HU has rear outputs though, my HU is aftermarket. The stock amp output is the same as my HU which is why I went that direction.

The rear subs dont need replacement unless they are blown. Repositioned maybe but not replaced... They are decent if you hook them up right.
