Installed new stereo - no sound from rear speakers
I went to Best Buy today and picked up a new radio. They gave me a Volkswagen wiring harness. After hours of struggle I finally had a friend figure out I had to move a wire in the harness over to get sound to my speakers. (I had none previously) Afterwards, I realized I only had sound coming from the front speakers, nothing from the rear. My friend was not able to hook up the rears and said there wasn't even a place for the wires to go. Do I need a new harness or is my friend stupid?
Check whether you have the amp trigger wire connected. You need this to send a signal to your amp to switch it on.
I am on my fourth head unit now and everyone has just plugged straight into the loom.
I have had original, Pioneer Avic, Becker Sat Nav and now JVC dvd, all just worked straight from box.

I can't get rear speaker sound because they aren't plugged in. I was told there is nowhere else in the harness I can connect the rear speakers to. I'll try and get a photo up in a bit
Read more about it here https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...-channels.html
This doesn't make sense to me. I recently installed a Clarion head-unit in my Crossfire (still using the factory amp and speakers), and I didn't have to do any special wiring.
I used a Volkswagen/Mercedes harness Best Buy sold me, and it had color-coded wires for front left, front right, rear left, and rear right speakers.
I believe the harness they sold me included 2 extra wires that you could insert into empty spots on it, if you needed them. One was to trigger a power antenna, which doesn't apply to our Crossfires anyway. Can't even remember what I figured out the other was for, but again, not anything that mattered for the Crossfire.
Either your friend doesn't know what he's doing, or quite possibly you've got the wrong type of harness.....

What spec of car do you have?
Are you aware that base models do not have rear speakers?
& that limited and Srt's are fitted only with subs behind the seats.
The subs are driven thru the amp which is situated under the carpet in the passenger footwell.
As I said in a previous post all my stereo's have been just plug and play.
Alternatively are the rear speakers there and connected. A previous owner may have been fiddling with the wiring.
It happens a lot. You should see some the messes I have encountered!
PMSL at the spagetti some people create, then tear what little hair I have left out trying to decifer their logic??????
