Second this, I cannot tell you how many problems are associated with these 'vibrating' either loosening or opening. Also, the dissimilar metals (copper to the aluminum tap) tend to corrode and cause hot spots when resistance builds up over time (due to weather/humidity). Splice either by an approved soldering, or cutting/twisting/crimping, and sealing. Guarantee a reliable connection!

Ok, after all this, I'll try to tap into the BROWN wire for power and attach the camera ground wire to one of the bolts. I'll let you guys know how it went.

What was the final consensus on this issue? Just got my Magellan wireless backup camera and it has 2 wires. My backup light as 1 brown and 2 black wires.... Why couldn't they just use 2 wires like everyone else?

The 2 black wires are just a continuation of the ground wire. although the wiring chart shows the grounds as brown wires :
