Update:
Miopocket works, and while awesome, it has a very large foot print. After work today I will be messing with CeFFM
Link: [APP/SKN][Beta][CE 5.0/6.0] ceFFM - A Fingerfriendly Menu (Shell) for Sat Nav's - xda-developers

This is a bit newer of a program, in the sense that it has been updated this year, MioPocket hasn't been updated since 2010. While messing with Miopocket I was able to use a file manager and get access to the actual front end of the head unit, so now I can modify the GUI and other things. I also found there is a Tire Pressure Sensor application hidden in the head unit. Eonon sells one head unit right now with this app and it costs almost $400 plus $120 for the sensors. So maybe I can put new sensors in later.

Anyways what this tells me is that the whole head unit is Windows CE based and that the Radio components and the GPS are built together, some head units have completely separate mother boards. So I may be able to modify the whole unit and turn it into a "carputer" since I have access to all the drivers. I have some experience in modifying android phones so the concept is pretty much the same. I'll keep messing with it and see what I can do.

What I'm planning now is instead of having to run a separate session of Windows and hogging up limited resources I will add a new icon into the front end and have it open the OBDII program that way. The amount of things that can be done now is limitless. I hope some people will find this useful, when I actually get somewhere with this, I will start a new thread.

Wow! your getting more use out of this headunit then I ever will.

Keep us updated on your progress.

So far my unit has been pretty good. Ive had a few freezes with the gps portion of it. Primo will freeze if I try and do too many things at once. But its still pretty fast. It only really happens if I switch between gps and ipod for example. But only occasionally happens.

Now, one thing I would love to improve upon for the factory GUI software would be to add some type of graphic equalizer, and fix some of the user interface parameters. First thing being, disabling the touch interaction when the volume display is showing for a few seconds. Prime example, if you adjust the volume with the ****, it will show a bar with your volume range 0-50ish.. if you accidentally touch the screen in the area of the visual bar, the volume will JUMP!.. This is super dangerous since I have a 6ch 600w JL amp running my mids and highs.

If that can be modded, I would be tickled pink!

Just did a simple change, with the file explorer in ceFFM I was able to get access to the internal memory of the head unit and the TPMS software that in the M1 is hidden in there! So I changed the name of the file to Tetris.exe and then deleted the game. So now in the GUI when I click on the Square game the TPMS app comes online.

I'm going to try and do the same thing with an OBDII app since that's all I want, I don't need the 40 apps that come with CeFFM or MioPocket.

I've been having problems getting the proper .net framework to install on this head unit. To install it you need to use ActiveSync which requires plugging a laptop into the head unit which I'm not 100% sure will work. I'll do some experimenting this weekend and if it's that simple then we may be getting somewhere. The big issue is that the OBDII software for windows mobile is very old and not as pretty looking as Torque Pro on Android.

Well, I just got my G1311 in from FedEx today. That's quick shipping from Hong Kong to Pennsylvania in four days. Since the weather here is gonna be cold for a few months, I'm going to set this unit up on my workbench so I can hack it in comfort.

Selby: I'd appreciate any links you can pass along about what you've done and good places for info on WinCE 6.

Thanks!

I just need to ground the parking brake wire and the amp on wire for my subs. The screen folds out when I turn on the car with the Chrysler Logo on while it boots up.

The only downside is that when I use bluetooth the song info doesn't show up on the screen. Controls work and calling is really clear.

I find it quite impressive that for $227+shipping it comes with the USB cable (for port extention), Ipod cable, bluetooth, GPS module, wiring harness already connected!

Sound quality is very clear, I cannot find any issues I may start messing with the Windows CE OS and see what can be modified with the shell.

Highly Recommended!!
Got a link to your seller? Wife is liking what she's seeing for her roadster..

Here's the links I've been working with. I haven't experimented with it in a while
GpsPasSion Forums - Customizing NoName 7" GPS/DVD/RADIO/TV

[APP/SKN][Beta][CE 5.0/6.0] ceFFM - A Fingerfriendly Menu (Shell) for Sat Nav's - xda-developers

For Mr. Miata

Don't buy the maps just download the files off of the forum above and you'll find even better maps. I'll answer what questions I can but I've been using my 7" tablet to run Torque pro.

Thanks! I got the unit setup on my workbench with an old PC power supply and some PC speakers.

I gotta say that I am disappointed with the user interface. Please tell me that it is hackable and you've replaced it with something useful?

You can change the GUI, there's youtube videos on how to do it. One guy modified a G2227, they're all windows based so its the same steps. Just make sure you don't mess anything up. I'm not sure how reversible these units are.

What you can do is load CEFFM and move one of those head units onto the shell by renaming the program as one of the games on there and see if that gets you anywhere...

The one thing I want fixed is with bluetooth streaming it doesn't say who is calling it just spits out a number and for audio it just has the animated equalizer and doesn't give song info.

Just some simple instructions for anyone who is also messing around with these type of units. I've been able to install any native running windows CE application, by native I mean nothing that requires .NET framework to operate. I installed a new media player for the hell of it but it still doesn't access the bluetooth driver so that doesn't help too much. Hope this bit of instruction helps.

update.

I'm pretty happy with the G1311 but now I've decided to get the M1 and do a double din install. I'll keep this updated once I have the new unit. The M1 seems to be really friendly with Android phones/tablets so I'm really excited about this.

Looks like a very nice Windows CE (apparently not 8) head unit. Can you just flip the screen horizontal to get at the climate controls without turning off ? It mentions motorized screen adjust.

Personally am moving toward a Windows 8.1 or MacOS device that stays with me and in my cars just have a "preamp" with aux in and Bluetooth plus a mike for HFP.

That way if I just want simple stuff, I can just link to my phone which has satnav, engine diagnostics, web, and about 1500 songs. For more complicated (I have trouble with small keyboards), can connect to a Tablet in a dock. Many choices.

When you have several cars, you think portable.

I think the same way, I have all my music on my Samsung Galaxy S3. I have bluetooth headphones, DLNA for my home stereo and then a plug in speaker at work. The M1 has screen mirroring so I can have Torque or google maps show up on a larger screen.

Eonon M1 with Miracast| Car GPS | Car DVD GPS | 2 Din Car GPS DVD | In Car DVD | Best Car GPS

I'm pretty happy with this company's customer service. Being in Guam I expect 3-8 weeks for anything to show up and I have to pick it up at the post office which is only open for a very small window 9am-3pm so they don't open until I'm already at work and close before I get off. With Eonon they ship through FedEx and the stereo was at my door in 3 days. I wasn't home so the FedEx guy actually called me and asked if there was somewhere he could leave the stereo or if he could meet me somewhere to hand it to me.

To answer your question the G1311 is a fold out so yes I would have to drop the screen to change the controls which is a little tedious and when my wife drives the car she never puts the screen back up which is partially annoying.

I'm not on here much, but thought I'd post that I rather love my head unit.
I can play Slacker radio through my Android phone via bluetooth.
It's got hands free calling.
The face is removable for top-down parking (or sketchy neighborhoods?)
And once my radio guy upgraded the wiring harness, it is LOUD!
My only issue now is getting my Infinity Basslink sub to cooperate. I think my behind-the-seat subs have taken a dump.

Here's a pic to show possibly the best part. It sits down from the install point, so as to not obstruct the climate controls. And it only took me a few weeks to find the unlock button, which is the only one I 've needed to find thus far!
