Default Roadster Subwoofers

I know there are several threads on this subject but no real answers that I can use, so here is my question:

Can the subwoofer baskets be disassembled to the point that a factory replacement speaker only can be used in either the right or left location. I think we all are aware that there is a huge price difference between the left and right part numbers.

Since there seems to be no direct fit replacement available from the aftermarket, I am willing and ready to purchase 2 Right speakers to get the replacement of both left and right done...

Has anyone sucessfully done this?

Thanks,

Thornh

Ive replaced both and from what i saw, the speakers are identical... I havent actually put a right on the left but it seems you would just unscrew the speaker from the basket and rotate it to fit the screw holes of the left basket.

perhaps someone else can chime in here, but i think they are literally the same speaker.

That's pretty much what I am thinking, i guess i will order up 2 of the lefts, since they are affordable and hope I can take one apart and install it into the right side bracket

Thanks for the input!

Where did you find the subwoofers? I can't seem to find a factory speaker anywhere as they are apparently discontinued.

They are discontinued and impossible to find. I bought mine off another member on here. If you have a set you can send them off to be repaired. But other than that, salvage yard or eBay-esque sites are probably your best bet

I could not find one either, although many parts sites list them when you go to place can order they are not available. I ended up replacing them with earthquake sws 6.5 subs with an aftermarket amp.

I have to replace just one speaker. If someone buys a pair just to replace one speaker post here and i'll split the cost for the other speaker
