Padgett, The Dell Venue 8 has all the hardware required to do a great job as music, video, and navigation device at a reasonable price. It is a name brand gps enabled tablet backed by an american company that is less expensive than most GPS enabled products sans cheap china junk.

I have no use for a windows tablet with a dock, keyboard, mouse, wired Ethernet, external DVD and storage and two 24" Monitors in workstation mode that I can mount in my crossfire. You may want to start your own thread to find answers to your perfect solution.

Does any one else have any answers or ideas pertinent to the questions that have been asked?

 

Just a note that there is more than one Dell Venue 8, there is an Android version which has GPS and a Windows version that does not. Of the 8" Windows tabs, only the Toshiba Encore and the Lenovo Miix2 8 have the GPS.


I prefer Amrerican products but not when they are brane-ded (c).


All my efforts today are on Windows 8.1 tabs that have HDMI, USB, BT, GPS, and a microSDXC (64GB & up) slot.


The major breakthrough was to be able to maintain the battery and use the USB at the same time.

 

I have it in my SRT 6. Came with the car. Bluetooth works well and I have it wired for Ipod and MP3 which also work well. It has a green illumination in it's options that's close to the factory green. If you want to mess with it you can custom color it through it's menu. With the screen out it does cover the HVAC controls but would not interfere with any shifter.

Complaints: With the screen in it is an all black front. I would have preferred some silver highlights to match the dash especially since it sticks out too far for my tastes. I have an old Kenwood in one of my Vipers that I think would look MUCH better. It has terrible radio reception as evidently the factory antennae system is not compatible and the previous owner didn't take the time and effort to make it right. My shop guys say it's an easy fix. Probably going to get rid of it as I like guages so it looks like a complete waterfall redesign in the near future to make that happen..
