Default Stereo Frustration

I am sure this has already been addressed but I couldn't seem to locate if it has or not. I own a 2004 Chrysler Crossfire Base which I love, recently anytime I try to play a CD in the stock stereo the CD just ends up playing high pitched screeching and screaming noises. I can switch back to AM/FM and can hear it crystal clear then ill switch back and same thing. I have tried different CDs and same result, I will eventually get a new stereo but for now this stock stereo seems to work just fine for me. Sorry if this is a repost but I figured there has to be a simple fix. Help me out guys/gals (don't discriminate),

Have you tried cleaning it with a CD head cleaner disk?

Yeah I have tried cleaning the CD and the same thing happens, even tried a brand new CD that has never been played and the same thing happens. Yeah maybe its time to just invest in a new stereo and do it sooner than later, I don't know. I just sucks because it used to work fine then it started screeching and wining.

That's funny, still my stereo. I guess no one has run into this before judging by the posts.

Sounds like a slipping drive, does the CD use belts ?

If you build some adapter cables you can swap in a more modern radio and then swap back if you want to sell. Are a number of single DIN marine radios with chrome faces.

a) note the "BT" suffix, that means it ihas BlueTooth
b) you cannot conceive of how sick I am of green phosphor on black. In 1983 I bought a Columbia luggable PC just because it had an amber display and the Compaq was green.

Many different colors on it, I just wanted it to match the dash.
