Default Is factory Nav Crap?

My wife recently bought a low mileage 06 coupe with the factory Nav radio/CD. Previous owner didn't even realize it had Nav since manual & CD's were missing. I bought the 2 CD's and a reprint manual for less than $100 total figuring this was a cheap investment. What a letdown! Besides the clunky controls to enter a destination, it can't find streets in neighboring towns that I know existed before this was made. Also, If you're looking for an address that is rural I see no way of entering since you have to enter the city first.
So my questions are:
1. How do you locate a street that's just outside the city limits?
2. Can this thing find a rural address? If so, how do you enter it in without first typing the city?
3. Any recommendations for a replacement silver colored stereo, with or without Nav?

There may be updated CD's but at what cost? This unit with its outdated technology is just not worth spending much more than I already have invited in it.

They were pretty much obsolete when they were made and had zero updates. Don't waste your money.

That's what I was afraid of. Wish I would have realized it before buying the CD's and manual.

I owned an 08 Audi A3 that also required using a CD but it was light years ahead of this thing. I guess I was expecting it to have similar capabilities.

They ahve never updated the CDs, in fourteen years, NOT ONCE.
All the JVC / Kenwood marine heads have that satin finish. Same for Clarion.

But don't buy anything but JVC/Kenwood, it's the choice of us "Beautiful and Important People".
The product line changes so often, all you can do is research what Best Buy, Amazon, etc. have in stock and go from there. Pay attention to customer reviews and DOWNLOAD THE MANUAL and read thru it to make sure you are getting what you want. Manuals, generally don't lie - you can see what the product is expected to do.

So . . . As you've already figured out, you wasted your money trying to get the OEM Infinity NAV unit to work. They were obsolete when they were made. Use your smartphone for Navigation.

Change out the radio head unit to a JVC Kenwood Marine unit. The OEM amp and speakers are actually very good (if your subwoofers are not deteriorated) but the OEM Infinity radio is junk!

Enjoy your Crossfire . . . They are the best sports car value on the planet!

I never answered his question:
"Is the Factory Nav Crap?"

The factory nav is the crap that crap sits in when it is 'taking a crap'.

So, you're saying it's no good? lol

Since this is my wife's car and it's mostly her grocery getter she doesn't really need Nav so I'll probably replace it with one of the silver marine options available. I wish Alpine offered something in silver since previously I've had good luck with their stereos. If we're going somewhere on a trip we will most likely use the Audi S7 I recently bought. It has a killer B&O stereo with Nav that actually works.
When I bought the CD's and manual combined for less than $100 I realized the Nav wasn't going to be great but still useful, I just didn't know how bad it actually is.
Thanks for everybody's input.

I recently bought an Alpine from a member on the Forum. It is an
older unit but works fine. The silver matches the car perfectly.
