Here’s pictures of the fitment, sorry it’s a little late. I destroyed the bottom part of the actual lighter holder. The person who had it before me glues the damn sleeve in there. If any one has one they’re willing to sell, give or trade for anything let me know please. Thank you in advance. Ali did knock it of the park with this design. I know people are weary about the airbag light but that wasn’t a deal breaker for me. I’ve thought about drilling a hole for it eventually but it’s not top priority yet.

I was going to check in with you guys over here that did it and ask what th

e circumference of the hole was for that air bag light? Any help would be appreciated
No rush though

You need the diameter of the airbag light hole, not the circumference, it also needs an area into which the light slides and is clamped to. Or you can cut the original hole area out and cement it in place, as this needs to be blended into the existing surface this is a lot of work, UrbanE did it this way.
I just drilled a hole and added the clamp area on the back face.
Both methods require repainting to a more or lesser degree around the hole.
You could fit the AB light into a finished clamp ring with a raised ring that sits above the bezel surface and hides the drilling mark. I used one of those step drills to cut through the bezel.

How do I know if I have a Glossy or Satin finish? My XF is a 05 and both are listed on the AOZ Parts page.

I went through this same thing. You have glossy.

My ‘05 SRT has the satin finish as do most ‘05 models, some early ones could possibly have the gloss finish.

I have 3 05s and they are all satin. Does the finish look glossy?

I do stand corrected, I had it backwards. I went back and forth with AOZ, with pics. Yes, you have satin. I'm not sure of the difference on the colors, as I've only personally seen one type of finish on any XF, but obviously there's more than one.

Thanks for all of the replies. Like nemiro, I have only seen one type of finish, so I don't really know what the other would look like. It seems like I most likely have the Satin so I will order that and hope for the best.

Here is my SRT-6 Interior and the only one with the 2DIN Alpine-Tochscreen System in this high position.

It was made in Germany in 2017, based on my ideas.

best regards, the new one here...

Love how it looks, but wouldn't sacrifice the air vents / AC for it.

I didn‘t sacrifice the whole system.
The two vents in the middle makes the
XF look old...
the Car heating has the same dimension like a much bigger Mercedes C-Class.
It still works & no Problem for a small 2-Seater.
there are enogh vents left.

I like the steering wheel and the high mounted screen, but I would never get rid of those vents. There is nothing like a cold blast of air in the face when it is hot inside the car.
The car is 15 years old so would you modify a classic car to make it look newer? 😳
I have never had a 15 year old car, they all went before they were 10 years old except for my wife’s ‘66 Mustang I was going to fix up, it sat in the garage for 30 odd years before I lost interest, read lazy, it was nothing special anyway. The guy who purchased it drove it over for me to see a few years later it looked good.
You say this mod was done in Germany, can you explain?

Here where I live temperatures frequently exceed 115°f. I know that isn’t an issue for everyone but I would not want to lose the center vents.

The goal was to make it look
more Contemporary,
not Brand new.
( Same like the smaller Paddleshift-Steering-Wheel in combination with a fadster & gear holding TCU tune &#129321

Navigation in 2DIN Dimension already existed in 2005, but wasn‘t available for the anyway expensive srt-6.

Who cares about the age of this or any car?
There are several good and those cars who are made to end after 10 years in car press.

The headline is to have fun, modify and share the experience plus keeping the XF alive.

115F is very hot, I agree, but there are a few New-Sportcars you can still buy without radio
or a climate.
The annual average temperature here is 48F.
So its more about heating then cooling. Anyway.

As I said: the small XF-cabin is powered by a big C-Class climate control.
The outer vents stil works, like all the others.

If it isn‘t enough & would be relevant I can open the window or would have bought the roadster for the extra needed blast. 😂

A: I paid a specialist in Germany for this job.
the Navi-System is from Alpine.
Everything else custom, a little bit 3D printed parts that has been put together.

Yours is definitely unique and for how small our cabins are definitely works since you don’t live in a hot part of the country. It’s a damn clean install. My ultimate configuration would’ve been to have the screen under the vents and then move the AC controls under the screen. Ultimately that was not feasible for a large production kit like the AOZ kit. I think there would’ve been way more modding to be done than just moving everything down and getting rid of the ashtray, lighter and seat belt light. I have the double din kit from AOZ parts and is the easiest way to achieve having a double din.

Someone posted these pictures not too long ago on one of the Facebook groups and this is the craziest way I’ve ever seen the double din done. I have no idea how the AC/ controls especially the vent mechanisms could even work? Where there’s a will there’s a way lol.

Hi, the idea is good but technicaly
this solution on the pics above doesn‘t make any sence.
The mechanic controller do not work anymore if U bring it to the cupholder position.
This is making the vents nearly useless.
esp. if you need the heating for the windshield or clear a fogged window, because you cant switch anymore between the Settings.

In addition: it looks cheap, is not very clean and only an on top Display that do not fix in size.

Anyone who has installed the AOZ double din dash panels can you tell me what install kit you used to fit the radio to the new opening? I spent some time on the phone with Crutchfield but not being familiar with the shape or dimensions of the bezel they were unable to help. I have a Sony to install.
