Has anyone installed an aftermarket amp and managed to make the rear subs useable? (my OEM amp was replaced at some point... rear subs either need new surrounds...or replaced) Wondering how to wire up the OEM subs to an aftermarket amp,... knowing that the OEM amp also supplied power AND audio to each sub.... how would one deal with the power issue to the subs?

 

kicker has both subs and an amp that will work.
power for the subs (6-3/4” max size) comes from the amp

 

Mine came with a JL 4x100 amp... and stock subs... ordered a replacment pair... will see if they fit without modding the holders.

 

@UrbanE do you have a part number for those Kicker subs?

 

I sure do, they are also listed on the back of subs in the image shown in previous thread.

I did a quick search and they appear to be the same dimensions but I would encourage you to dig into it before ordering. I would hate to guide you in the wrong direction.

noting that the oem subs needed new surrounds, I removed them... figured out that the oems were dual 2.25ohm coils...i decided to refoam them.... they are now powered by the JL amp that the original owner had installed... they sound pretty good...

Good suggestion. I went and looked at them. First glance, these appear to be larger than the existing sub enclosure behind the seats. Might want to dig deeper to confirm before you select these
