Ok I have to change my subwoofers as they are blown. I'm going with the kickers and since I have to Modify to install them, has anybody gone with a forward facing Set up. Was it worth it. Did you get a little better thump or the same.
Usually the rear subs don't blow, the glued area that holds the cone to the speaker frame disintegrates. It's easier to fix the original dual 4 ohm voice coli speakers than to find ones that will work/fit and match impedance with your system. Tip to get the most out of the rear subs turn the bass to max

2. how to video is for door speakers but same procedure for subs :
Material is a resin board used to make check fixtures for automotive prototype parts. Could make them from wood also, this was all that was available from work at the time. We have a CMM scanner and designed them for the original speaker mounts. I saved the program and design, could make more if needed. I'll have to figure out a price if you are interested. I have more pictures on my profile, check them out.
Yes, I would be interested in 2 of those mounts, let me know if you decide to make some I think a lot of members would also be interested. I'll have to steal some of the wife's ss money but she'll get the benefits of a better sound system. Did your speakers align up with you holes ?
thanks for the reply

I did look at your gallery here at all your photos of these
I too would be interested in a set of these custom mounts you can produce

Anyway you could make them for an 8in sub? I know we talked previously about it through messaging awhile back. This would make my endeavor a lot easier.

I thought our subs calked for 2ohm dual voice coils? I know the 4ohm Pyles I have in there are definitely not anywhere close to as efficient as the stock ones when they were functioning.
I currently have Kicker subs and kicker amp. Was disappointed with the sound from the rear facing subs.
The subs are configured; Head Unit SUB RCA jacks to amp. Amp configured for base to speakers.
I called Kicker and spoke to tech. Explained the set up and he told me to do two things.
1) stop running speakers from RCA whenever possible. The RCA is prone to external electrical noise. Wire speakers to the harness. It will have its own ground. Eliminates any whining
2) leave the subs as rear facing but run them as mid base from the rear speakers fron headunit
rear speakers from head unit to amp. Amp configuration remains unchanged.
HUGE Improvement.
I really want to try the front facing speaker adapter when/if they becomes available.
super happy with the improved sound. Have ordered Dynamat for the doors. I was on the highway today and felt the sound was a lot better.

The guy told you that because it's his job to make his product perform as well as it can.
1) RCA cables are shielded in a weak attempt to deal with noise (Electrical noise). In my 39 years in mobile electronics, the answer for a good auto sound system includes and demands LOW IMPEADANCE, high level signals. The RCA configuration is a low(er) level, high impedance (on the order of 1000 to 10,000 ohms) configuration. Speaker lead output is high(er) level, low impeadance (on the order of 2-16 ohms). This lower impedance gives less of a resistance for noise to form across. Running low impeadance configurations lowers noise vulnerability in audio as well as RF systems.
You can often get away with using the RCA lines, but again, in 39 years, Iv'e never even considered using them for concern for noise issues. This rule applies to vehicular siren/PA/Radio/Intercom systems universally.
2) His suggestion is pretty good and if you are happy, fine. But I gotta tell you, the best sound I have EVER heard from a Crossfire is Mary Diaz' car. She has surface mount 7 inch speakers behind the seats, facing forward, mounted in the hole for the factory speakers. I WISH I could find a picture of them, if I do, I will post it. The factory's idea of hiding them in the wall is kinda cool, but not, acoustically, a good idea. Front facing speakers are here NOW, just put conventional speakers in.
So, after a lot of looking for material price and machining cost I think it will cost too much to make these. I've looked into 3d printing and had one hand made. I like what I see. Having the other hand made, should have it in a day or two. Going to install this week to hear how they sound and make sure install goes smooth. looking like I should be able to get these made and sell for $150 a pair plus shipping. These are made to fit Kicker CWRT67 subs, may fit others. They take about 13hrs. each to make on the printer. I will need a couple days to make each pair. If everything works, I will try to make some for 8" subs. Here are pictures of the first hand before installation.

See point #2 in post 14. I am NOT a fan of those silly rear-facing speakers behind the seats.
Finally got new 3d printed forward sub mounts installed. Installation went smooth. Sound as good as my originals. Willing to sell my old pair for $50.00 plus shipping. Would prefer to sell to a senior member (someone with credibility on this forum) to get their opinion. P.M. me if interested. May buy a 3d printer myself to lower price if I can get enough interest.
I finally got around to correctly installing my front facing subs.
I was fortunate enough to get a set of the 3D printed front facing sub mounts from Chynnalou.
I started by applying Dynamat to the bulkhead and the interior of the sub cavity.
Then I installed the new sub mounts.
I run the kicker subs as rear mid bass speakers (not plugged into sub jack) they are run as rear speakers.
What a crazy amazing difference. On the highway, roof down, windows down 100km/hr. The sound from side speakers and bass from the back was incredibly clear and loud.
Dynamat in doors too.
the dynamat really helps in the doors and the bulkhead.
Chynnalou the quality of your printed subs mounts is amazing. Everyone should get a pair.
