Angry Central Locking Module - 2005 Crossfire

Good afternoon. I am looking for a Central Locking Module. My side lights will not go off, and the key fob remote does not lock the doors, the trunk will not unlock because of this part. The only way I can get the lights to go off, if, I disconnect the battery cable. I spent three hours at the dealer ship today getting a diagnostic done to hear this news, because the part has been Discontinued! Looking for any suggestions at this point.

The BEST advice, NEVER take your crossfire to a dealership. They have NO IDEA what to do (except) throw parts at it and lighten your checking account/credit card. Seriously, they don't have the training or the trained crossfire tech's anymore. IF you find one, you got real lucky. Also, MB will not touch the car even though it is an SLK-320 drivetrain. Check out the document collection, and best of all come in here to the forum and ask for help for a whole lot of topics. There is a wealth of information and help here for free. Good luck!

Good morning. I am trying to find out which side of the vehicle the central locking system module is located. Mine needs replacing because it's draining my battery!

What makes you think the "central locking module" is draining your battery? And exactly what is the central locking module you are talking about? I ask because the SKREEM
(Sentry Key Remote Electronic Entry Module), or the CLP/SSM ( Central Locking Pump/Security System Module) are both "central" to the system along with several others.

The most likely culprit as to draining the cars battery would be the VTA (Vehicle Theft Alarm) commonly referred to as the siren. The SKREEM is located behind the instrument cluster, The CLP/SSM is located in the right rear of the car and the VTA, which probably is the cause of your cars battery draining is located below the black plastic cowl at the bottom of the windshield and is accessed by first removing the windshield wipers and then opening the hood and removing the cowl.

AND I really hope you take the advice giving in the #6 post above.

If you have any DTC Diagnostic Trouble Codes to share with us it would be most helpful. We need the numbers like P0410 to really help you with this. Most repair shops will say something like its the "central locking module" giving you trouble, but that really doesn't help in actually fixing the problem. So if you can get a DTC, please share that with us.

Yes, I did take it the Dealership! They were the ones who told me about the Central locking system module and that it is the cause of the battery being drained! I am not a mechanic and I don't much about fixing vehicles. Do you have any advice of who can repair it in this area? I am located in Fredericksburg, VA.

Generally speaking, I'd not listen to the dealer's service department. I doubt the CLP/SSM is at fault, altho it could be. I suspect they measured current to the siren and assumed that was the same as the CLP/SSM.

The only guy I know is Rick Dunmeyer in Stoystown, PA, four hours from you.

Do you have any local friend who is known for electronics knowledge? Such a person can find the culprit pretty easily, but you won't find such a person wearing a 'mechanic' hat very often.
If you have someone in mind, give them the document I attached below and let them verify what is going on; this is a procedure SPECIFIC to the Crossfire and avoids some of the pitfalls you encounter if you listen to a random YouTube video on "Battery Drain" (not that such videos are bad, it's just that most dont address specific characteristics of the Crossfire).

Let them know they can ask questions here and we can guide them.

This is a link to a thread here on the forum that gives a list of repair shops others have used. There is one in Fredericksburg and a few others in VA.
When looking for help with the Crossfire it is best to use an independently owned shop that specializes in European cars and know that the Crossfire is basically a Mercedes.
Most all mechanical parts are interchangeable with a Mercedes SLK 320 model year 2003 or if your car is supercharged a 2003 SLK 32 AMG.

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, I don't know of any one but, I will conduct some research on this. Right now I am all over the place trying to get this issue resolved. I have had this vehicle since the 2005's came out and it only has 44,000 miles on it, and I am starting to get frustrated!

Good afternoon. What does it mean when the Master lighting Switch light comes on the console?

What is the Master Lighting Switch Light? A picture would help. Do you have an owners manual?

In aircraft, it means that power is now applied to the switches that power the various lighting systems of the aircraft.

In a Crossfire, it means you are using the wrong term, as we have no "master lighting switch" in our cars.

Do you mean the image of the light bulb on the instrument panel?
If so, that means that you have a bulb out somewhere. Most likely a blinker.
