Default Dealers to Avoid

Taylor Chrsyler in Stoney Creek charged me $ 165.00 for an oil change on my 04 Crossfire. $45.00 plus tax for the oil filter. Ok, expensive (well real expensive) but they forgot to reset the oil mileage trip senser thing and didn't put enough oil in it. At least they were pleasant! Holy crap! I emailed the Service Manager and didn't get a reply. How do some dealers stay in business???

For about half of the cost, the local Toyota dealer serviced my Tundra with an oil change (synthetic) and washed the old girl for me! They even had good free coffee in the waiting area!

Suggest you learn how to do it yourself as many of us have due to the high cost. It can be done in a half hour and little more than a third of what you paid. I got tired of being gouged too. The last dealer change 4 years ago was 160 bucks, never again!

Cool Re: Dealers to Avoid

I completely agree with Pat;

you will save an awful lot of money and learn a little more about your Xfire.

The Xfire filters can be bought at Canadian Tire, maybe have to order
at Parts Desk, for around $10.

The oil is on sale at Canadian Tire at various times..........four litres for less than $35.
I would rather do that myself than let anyone at a dealership even touch the Xfire.

Since owning my '04 Coupe from new, the car has NEVER been close to a dealership, since!
It will let me know WHEN it needs to ever go back to a dealership, Chrysler or Mercedes.

.
Two weeks ago the oil (Mobil 0W-40) was on sale at CTC for $3.00 less than normal price, that made it $6.79 a liter. At Canadian prices that was almost giving it away.
Quite a few of us stocked up.

I've done two oil changes, first one cost about $70 and the second was around $76 cause I missed a sale.

Even if you have to buy the drain pan, wrenches, etc. - you can get away with those supplies for $25 or less and re-use them.

Here in Georiga, 0W40 is sold by WalMart and all the Auto Parts stores. WalMart is always cheapest. Oil filters (get the FLEECE one) are $11 at Advance Auto and the o-rings for the drain plug are 3 for about $2 at Advance as well.

NO ONE is gonna touch my car untill something comes up that I can't handle. (I'm even thinking of doing my front brake pads myself!)

I would not even let O'Reilly's guys put in my new battery!

As to dealers...

The creeps on Morrow, GA (south side of Atlanta - LandMark Dodge) are to be avoided at all costs! MAN do they take advantage of people - real high pressure, too.

Hayes Chrysler in Gainesville, GA comes HIGHLY recommended by Pizzaguy - they were wonderful to buy from and gave me a good discount on my cup holder. (Still too much money, but the parts guy said, "I don't have the GUTS to charge you $80 for that...)
