Mods include, but are not limited to the following:
Eurocharge engine dyno tune
Eurocharge transmission tune
supercharger pulley size reduction
idler pulley
tensioner pulley
scatter shield for s/c pulley
cat delete exhaust or catback exhaust
electronic accelerator pedal tuner "sprint booster"
dual air intake from Needswings
intercooler inhancer
supercharger waterpump upgrade (Bosch upgrade)

Some of these mods can be omitted, but to get the best of the street usable, almost all of these improve the performance. Lowering springs would also help the handling; Eibach is the best brand, but cutting the OEMs would work if done right.

In Florida, when I found my SSB-SRT, at an insurance salvage yard, it was sold as "water-flood damaged", After inspecting the vehicle and determining that water never got inside, I bid on it and won and was furnished with a title that said - "Rebuildable". After washing the car and getting a 10 day tag to drive it to the inspection office and paying a 100.00 inspection fee to the Fla Dept. of Hwy. Safety, they issued me a title that said "Rebuilt " and reason:-flood/water damage. I am sure it is different from state to state as was posted earlier. I cannot imagine bidding on a salvage car without knowing what you might be getting into. I am thinking there is more to the story than has been divulged about the car as well. Illinois you said, that explains a lot of the non-transparency in details right there.

Would you mind sharing your bid and the number of miles at that time? Were you able to start the car or verify that the car ran before bidding?

In Florida the difference between a salvage title and a regular one is simple: salvage costs the insurance co $7 and a normal title is $70. Most are just interested in the bottom line.

Also are two Salvage titles here - Rebuildable which is just that and COD (certificate of destruction) which means it can only be sold three times before being destroyed.

While I have some friends that don't mind, I would not touch a Salvage title of any kind except as a parts car.

Plus 1... Just too many unknowns and no recourse.

I think this whole, long thread leads to a simple conclusion. Regardless of the technical details of what can or cannot be done with a salvage or rebuilt title, the very fact the the title is not clean will scare almost everyone away. I am not saying that's necessarily right, but it is what it is.

It's a beautiful car (on craiglist at 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLE ROADSTER SRT-6 SUPER LOW MILEAGE !).

Good luck and best wishes on the sale.

Thanks for sharing MrMiata,
Something sure doesn't smell right. Clearly the car was transported to IL to Owner 3. I don't think they are being honest with disclosing the reason behind the salvage title. I'd have to assume it was a flood vehicle being in Florida and totaled in the summer.

Funny... Just finished pulling up Orlando Florida search on those days.. Notice the "new" owner had it what 3 days then totaled.. makes me think he tried taking it for a swim on the beach?

i am sick of those of you assuming its a flood car, I HAVE ALREADY STATED IT IS NOT, if it was it would be branded so and i would disclose it as so, please refrain from taking guesses as what was wrong with it, it is not fair for you to make assumptions and influence the sale because of the things you say which are WRONG and incorrect and you have no evidence to back it up. i would ask for the moderators to step in here please.

The first owner was the dealership, the second had the vehicle from around 12/12/2004 when it was first sold initially, you can tell this by the mileage since it went from 999 to 3,362 if you are going to pull a carfax you better learn how to read it, and know how to interpret it, and understand how they guess on owner history best they can from what they have to go on, the information is never 100%, the history on this car checks out very well.

And the car was transported to Il from FL, when I bought it at the IAA auction in FL, the car was a RUN and DRIVE condition vehicle, i liked the history verifiing mileage on it when i ran it before i bought it, since I am in IL of course I had it transported here. Come on people, there's nothing wrong with that.

The vin is 1C3AN75N45X038451, I thought I posted it a long time ago, in any case its in the CL ad, not hard to find.

Final price drop before it goes back in storage $16,500, that's a great price for it, someone just sold one on here with 75,000 miles on it for $14K.

I believe folks can assume what they want. Granted if it was a flood vehicle it would be titled as such. While its in storage why don't you contact IAA or the insurance company that totaled it and get the information on the reason for the title branding. Maybe then folks won't assume the worst case scenario and you'll be able to get more for it. Actually, what I understand is you should go to a dealer and ask for trade-in based on salvage title...add a couple thousand on top of that and you have a fair price.
