What ever happened to the company that made the cheap version of limited slip to mount inside spider gears.
2 blocks of aluminum with springs inbetween blocks holding pressure, haven't seen them in awhile, or long term effects.

Heard of ppl looking for headlights, if atleast the main lens could be replaced and could be done at a descent price might be cheaper for buyers and good profit for seller.

One thing I been thinking of trying to do is convert the crap cup holder into a popup or swivel conceal pistol holder for a small auto.
Several options that will fit.

If you want to make replacement parts, look through the parts cars threads and do a tally on which parts ppl are requesting the most.

Lots of ppl always looking for srt rear wing, mostly for coupe.

What kind of parts are you thinking about making.
Plastic?
Carbon fiber?
Aluminum or steel?

Anyone that has plenty of spare time can make a fiberglass mold, then can vacuum infuse many cf parts.
Just takes the time and wanting to to do it.

With that mod you could easily be caught in the crossfire.

Exclamation Re: Question

Just a quick update... Our molds have been finished and we've received a few test pieces of the top windshield trim! We're working on new aluminum brackets instead of the stretch steel that was used originally and we'll be bonding it with 3M body weld instead of 3M trim tape as was originally used. Hopefully we'll have a finished product coming soon that won't fly off the car anymore!

That's great, there always seems to be a demand for those trim pieces.

I suppose you meant spring steel when you mention stretch steel? I would not expect those parts to be made of aluminum they were made from spring steel for a reason - they clip to the other part. Aluminum just deforms and will have little or no grip.
As such I would have little hope of these new parts standing up for long.
Time for a rethink.

Grats on the work, hope it turns out, and ty for update.

One question?
Why use aluminum for the clips, planning on replacing the other part of the clip that mounts to the body in a complete different design???
And making the clips on trim larger and solid and trying to get the flex from the clips mounted on the body.
Trying to spring aluminum into factory clips will just crack, or I am really interested your design.
Figured the aluminum clip would cost alot more to manufacture then the oe style clips.

I have tried a couple different methods to reattach the clips to my top.
The 3M bold weld does it stay ply able?
I have found best luck with using windshield urethane.

Are you going to be forming the trim in plastic, fiberglass or carbon fiber, if cf color options?
Just qurious.

Thumbs up Re: Question

Speedy & 180,

The clips were designed and machined to attach to the original clips that are mounted to the upper windshield frame. Not only do they snap on and stay on, you can also align them slightly to the side and slide them over the original clips to install them a bit easier.

For now they will just be available in fiberglass, painted to match the original silver from the factory. 3M body weld does stay slightly flexible but has a much greater hold than just the trim tape, or so I'm told. With the molds produced carbon fiber isn't far off, just not necessarily too much of a need. Most of the calls we get are to just find a replacement trim piece, not to dress it up.

Appreciate the input and we'll see what shakes out. We're waiting on the new weatherstripping to come in and they'll be ready to go!

Hopefully we'll have the headlight and taillight tint on the docket next!

Yes I agree !
aftermarket headlights would fly off the shelves .
They make aftermarket lights for cars with lower production numbers than the XF

So the clips work best to slide in sideways, and still going to be able to snap the 2 outer plastic clips down the go through the side pieces to the body?
Do you ha e a stronger clip design for that also?

Sounding good so far
Glad to see stuff coming available

Even better, sounds like you are making in house, correct??

You are just making the top piece correct?
Or all 3 pieces and selling as 3 piece set?

Headlight lenses would be nice.

Speedy,

The clips have been engineered to be a bit stiffer than the originals, but they will just snap on like the originals as well as sliding over too.

Yes they are being made in house!

For now, we're just making the top piece as we can't keep those on the shelf here. When the side pieces become scarce we'll probably start making those as well.

Next will probably be the clear side markers since they're impossible to get for the time being...

We appreciate all of the input as well!

Thanks!

Question Re: Question

Well, first round of the Upper Windshield Trim has sold out already! We're getting good responses from the customers on them so the second run of 15 is in production now.

We've tweaked the paint color a bit to get a better match this go around, a little bit too much flake in the last batch but they still looked good. This round should be nearly perfect.

Is there anything else we should be working on guys?

These parts where never on the site so how much did they cost? Pictures would be nice too.

I'd kinda like to see a front end scratch guard like you offer for the Prowler for around the same price.
My front bumper cover is all scratched up underneath.

For a chin protector, are you guys looking for stainless or what? Is there a material preference? What about a splitter style one? Give us some more input!
