So I have been thinking of what I really want to do to my car. Do I want it as a head turning street car, or make it into a street legal track car?? Do I want heavy Lowenhart wheels or lighter forged mesh wheels. What is the general consensus of Crossfire drivers thinking... I have about 6 grand burning a hole in my pocket. I know one project I am dying to try is side exit exhaust, like the Viper has, just a hair in front of the rear wheel, also chip tuning and a Big Brake Kit for the SLK320...

I'd be real careful with the wheel choice especially - alot of people out there are going with larger diameter wheels just to say they "got dubs" or whatever. I've even seen pics of cars with 20 x 8.5 in the back - complete with the wrong offset - doesn't make sense to me. makes the stance all wrong and increases the wheel well gap unless you put on HUGE spacers and three foot long lug bolts. I don't know about anyone else but the ten millimeter longer lug bolts I used even scare me. No, unless you are upgrading to a higher quality or lighter european or U.S. built wheel - why bother? The decision was made for me as soon as I saw the pics of Andrew's car - perfect stance, perfect fender gap, And not all that expensive. Our cars are refined european sporting coupes, I think aftermarket styling cues taken from other even more upscale cars (porsche, bmw, benz) would be in order. You can make it an SL65 wannabe or an overpriced civic with a cool body kit!

Maybe this is old news... but what suspension are you running Andrew?
I am looking at some 20X10 Axis Penta's with a 4.5" lip in back and some 19x8.5 fronts. Again, I am not going for a status thing, I am going for something to make the car stand out. As far as body kits, I have the CTD diffuser and a Startech front lip on order... Looking for more parts...

I'm too cheap for a spring kit right now and I did actually want to stiffen it up a little any way - so I just trimmed my stock springs. I took about an inch and an eighth out of the back and only about .75 out of the front. That combined with ten mm spacers makes a huge difference in the look. I couldn't go as low as yours without radically effecting the ride (stock springs). But standing next to a stock height car it looks like I took INCHES off!! Made it ride alittle rougher but livable.

If anyone else cuts they're own springs - be very careful - the metal comes off easy but it's a bit*h to put it back on!! I've owned something over fifty cars (I stopped counting) and lowered alot myself. It's hard to describe that feeling when you drop the jack and it won't come out from under the car! I've found if you climb under the car with something to measure the "loaded" coil to coil distance then you can extrapolate from there the approximate amount of drop measured in coils or partial-coils. That's pretty rudimentary, and doesn't take into account progressive rates and the amount that the spring will stiffen when you shorten it but... It gets you into the ballpark. If in doubt take less, put it back together and measure - taking care to roll the car back and forth to make sure the suspension has settled. I ended up with one full coil in back and a half coil in front, within an eighth of my calc.

Looks very good, the stance is perfect, though I am going to get some 20 x 10" rear wheels and 19 x 8.5 front.. can't wait to try it... you said the car is better in cornering with it?

19 X 8.5 in the front may start rubbing the fenders. One of the problems I have is correcting the negative camber. As I can recall, I have a (-) 3 degrees negative camber.
