Has anyone been successful at having their dealer activate the "chirp" alarm acknowledgement feature? I have been to 2 different dealers...and neither one could activate it through the OBD III programmer.

One of the dealers even told me...after trying...that me believes it can be done...but that the key needs to be left in the ignition for a minimum of 45 minutes in order for the car to recognize the key fob and activate it....now I've heard everything!

Does this feature actually exist for the crossfire?...I hope so!

Is there any reference to this in the Manual...or any TSB on this feature?

Gee. That's a good question. I was assuming that it couldn't be done. I'll be curious to hear the answer.

 

In a different discussion, someone said that in the OBDII you have to set it to "Netherlands". (?) It is supposed to chirp then. Anyone know this as fact? Maybe more detailed info?

Hello everyone...this is really frustrating...I had already taken that code for the "Netherlands" settings that Steffen published to both dealers and they tried everything with the OBDIII programmer...but still could not find that code. The OBD tool had a separate memory card for Crossfires as well as a translator box...but was still unsuccessful.

That's why I'm asking if anyone has had this done...or did anyone who bought a crossfire have the "Chirp" feature active when they purchased the car?

I also called Chrysler customer service...and they had no clue...and said that the dealer should know...please work thru the dealer...I replied..."I did...That's why I'm calling you". He chuckled...and said..."Sorry...we dont make crossfires...we only sale them". I held my composure and said...Thanks

Just a thought...Maybe...this forum can hire a MB technician to consult with and train the Chrysler dealer technicians.

Obviously...this is a minor problem compared to some of the Horror stories I've read about on this forum.

By the way...Mercedes was rated the "worst" quality of all the car manufactures. I was really surprised to read that statistic...I knew they were not in the top 25% with the Japanese car makers...but last place was a big surprise!

Maybe an extended Warranty is a good idea.

Just remember...I love my Crossfire!...Its a keeper!

I could not set a "chirp" feature. Had Coupe back to dealer yesterday. They had never been asked about this feature and had no clue. Dealer had need to contact DC Australia Pacific for another couple of things and were advised by DC Au/Pac that feature was not available on Australian models.

 

Where did you get this information? I always like to no the source of the data. I do not believe everything I read on the INTERNET, who knows it could be a Japanese Plot.

 

Contacted a Mercedes dealer and he said that the one who would know how to do it is a good alarm installer as they get into the computer. But recommended against it because fooling around with the computer could affect other areas adversely.

My dealer tech was able to access the menu but it was in a sort of inquiry mode. He's going to contact DC to see if there is anyway to change it but i'm not holding my breath. Oh well i guess i just have to look at my Xf when i lock it to see if the lights flash. Its just sooo hard to look at it and walk away.

An audible chirp chirp that provides positive feedback that the vehicle is locked. Some cars are too cheap to provide a chirp alarm...so they toot the horn.

 

And some cars are too cheap to even do that much.

Apparently, the verdict is in... Fiction.

Too bad for us.
