Fuel Door Problem
Fuel Door Problem
After filling up and returning home, I noticed that my fuel door was open. After trying to shut it (I know about the lock pin) I realized that the spring type mechanism that holds the door closed was not working properly. If I push the door shut it will not sit flush with the body (the car was unlocked so the lock pin being closed is not the problem).
I will be taking the car into the dealer to get the problem fixed but I was wondering if anyone had a solution or similar experience?

Re: Fuel Door Problem
Mine was doing that too, as it turns out, I just had a single twist in the rubber strip that connects the fuel cap to the fuel door. I couldn't even tell that it was twisted by looking at it, but by twisting it a full turn one way or the other it closed perfectly again. Worst case scenario, just cut that little strip off.
Re: Fuel Door Problem
Thank you both for the replys. I am still at my college appartment and will be moving back home Wednesday. I will check if the problem is as jpristel stated, and hopefully it is as then I will not need to go back to the dealer since its always a hastle. If that is not the solution I will be heading to the dealer.
Re: Fuel Door Problem
I noticed the same problem on Sunday when I was filling up. I was starting to get concerned about it and decided to have another look. I guess when I take off the cap, I twist it unintentionally, kinda like the phone cord. A couple of twists and viola! problem solved.
