Default rear window antenna replacement

Does anyone know how the antenna cable from the radio is attached to the antenna in the rear window? Does it just plug in to a connector or what.
Would like to disconnect from the window antenna and add a small antenna for better reception.

Thank you,
Tom

I thought the antenna ran around the front silver windscreen panel.

FYI the only wires running to the rear window are for the defroster, wing motor and upper brake light. I have no idea where the antenna would be...

Check the wiring schematic in the repair manual.

Hello,
I read a post here that stated, the antenna was located in the rear window of the coupe model. The reason I asked the question was because the radio reception for am is so bad for the two talk radio stations I like. I live in Boulder and the stations are located in Denver, they come in great on my other cars. I had the radio replaced with the new version and same problem. I read that the antenna might be the problem. Any ideas?

The radio antenna is located in the rear window of the coupe model. It is in the same grid as the rear defroster, there is one line in the window for the AM and one line for the FM.

I took my car to an audio specialist (had to wait 3 weeks for an appointment) and he told me that the antenna was to short and that was the problem with the poor reception on the AM stations. He disconnected the antenna from the rear window and added a coiled length of antenna wire which he laid under the plastic covering on the inside of the window cover. This fixed the problem, hopes this helps others with bad radio reception.
