Left side there is two cubby holes. One is for the tire pump and the other is for the tire sealant. On the right side is usually an empty cubby hole, however in Europe they are supposedly outfitted with a first aid kit. Lucky you that has the first aid kit. By the way, I saw other response, to clarify this question, the cubby holes are under the carpet and the pull tab is at the edge of the trunk closest to the bumper and towards the center.
