Warranty Question
I have a quick question for the forum.
I bought my Crossfire from Anderson Auto Group in Missouri Valley, IA. I purchased the car on September 29, 2004. Recently I took my car in for some normally warranty work and I noticed that the documentation said that my warranty expires in November of 06. I called the Chrysler's 1-800 number and found out that my car had a service date of November 2006. After three months of fighting with Anderson they finally sent me the following email:
“Jesse, Alison with the Anderson Group will be Issuing a 2 Year or 24000 Mile Warr. On your vehicle at no charge to you. It seems we had put your vehicle in Demo service on 11-25-03 which is why it ends soon. Because of this you have lost one year of factory Warranty. I am having Alison issue you a Two-Year Ext Warr. To you for all of the trouble you have gone thru! I hope this makes up for your trouble and you will remember Me when you need any further help with anything Auto related.”
First of all, a red flag alerted in my head because Anderson was actually giving me a year longer on my warranty. Car dealers don’t usually help you out like that. Then I saw that my car was originally in Demo Service. This actually concerns me because I bought my car brand new off of the show room floor. I am not sure what a Demo vehicle is but I would imagine it should have been cheaper then a new car. Can someone please clarify some of this for me before I make my trip to the dealership? Mostly I would like to know the difference between a demo service vehicle and a new car. Should I have paid less then I did, since I was told it was a new car?
Thanks for all of your help!!

How many miles were on the odometer when you drove the car off the lot? The owner of the dealership might have driven it before they parked it on the showroom floor. A demo car is a vehicle that the owner or salesmen drive -- it's of the perks for working at a dealership.

If It had less than 50 miles don't worry about it.
A demo is a car a salesman got to drive home to show his buddies to generate interest in the vehicle. It is also a bonus of working for a car dealer.
Many of the cool new cars are demos.

That just means that the salesmen/women and the managers at the dealership probably drove it home and or it was at some Chrysler event for show and tell.
Probably nothing to worry about, I'd take the warranty and smile. You don't usually get a second chance with that stuff.
