Damn You Mr. Clean!

So while I was in the middle of some drying time for the XF rust repair, I needed a car wash fix, so I took the wife's Excursion. Here are my observations:
1) It takes three times as many quarters and three times as much time to clean an Excursion than the XF.
2) People look at you strange when you spend a lot of time cleaning an Excursion, which is not the case with the XF.
3) It is harder to clean the top of an Excursion than the XF.
4) It is definitely easier to clean the underside of the Excursion than the XF.
5) You do get satisfaction from cleaning the Excursion, just not as much as the XF.

Well "DAMN YOU MR. CLEAN" now I guess I'll have to try it out myself... I'll never hear the end of this from my wife, she thinks I have a abusive disorder but hey at least my tail pipes aren't dirty!!!
This is from today's "The Truth About Cars" weblog:
Looks like andrew was ahead of his time. And "Mr. Clean (not an actual person)"? We disagree. And P&G better get the underside clean, too.
Mr. Clean Takin It to the Streets
By Robert Farago | July 21, 2007

Proctor & Gamble are keepin' it real by extending their Mr. Clean brand of car wash products into an actual car wash. The Enquirer reports that the Cincinnati-based conglomerate has opened the first of two Mr. Clean Performance Car Washes within miles of its corporate HQ. Mr. Clean (not an actual person) offers services ranging from a $9 stay-in-the-car express wash up to a $69 full-service interior and exterior clean. While the cynical amongst you might conclude that the move reflects P&G execs' desire for super-clean company whips, the $3.3m facility is [also] an attempt to capitalize on the car wash industry's growth. Industry boosters claim automated car washes are a $35b industry in the U.S., growing at about 10 percent a year. Yes, but P&G's move into bricks and mortar represents a major change of focus and risk for a company known for its ultra-conservative brand management.

My understanding there is no cure for Automysophobia
you can only control it with about $300 of detailing supplies, at least thats what I keep telling my wife. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it!
Thanks for the inspiration Andrew, you set the bar very high!

Does anyone else fire up an air compressor to blow out the interior (lots of dust) & the water from all the outside nooks & crannies? I do, then go over with a clean rag.

I use the Metro Vac-N-Blo Automotive Series Vacuum (Model # VNB-83BA) This powerful little sucker does a great job vacuuming as well as blowing the water out of the doors etc...
Metro Vac N'BloŽ Portable Vacuum doubles as a powerful blower. Blow dry your car or motorcycle or vacuum your vehicle's interior with one Metro Vac N
I've had this for ~ four years and it's perfect for the cars.
I think this is also available at Home Depot.
