I'm just wondering what the purpose is for the 1/2" diameter hole located behind the rear license plate? Is that for the wind up key? Strangely enough, I used to have a 1961 MGA that had a hand crank for the front bumper, just in case the battery went low. It worked.

I'm not sure that anyone ever really figured out what it was for...though it has been discussed several times. Some of the guesses were just as humorous.
