Funny,

I had no problem in the ice storm we had here in Maryland. Then again, I have the all seasons. I thought the car handled better than my front-wheel with no traction control or antilocks. You just have to know how to drive in snow and ice...

I drive mine in the snow. The trick is...if you are on a sheet of ice turn the traction control off!!!
If not you will just sit there.

Probably would also want to make sure the drivetrain is in 'W' and not 'S'. This plays a big difference cause the wheels don't spin as fast.

I had no problems on fresh powder or street slush/ice coming back through Flagstaff, Arizona on January 5th. Woke up with 2 inches of fresh powder on the car and it did just fine.

I left it in 'W' mode and just went slow... no problems. A little slipping now and then, but nothing the traction control couldn't compensate for.

But then again, I have an Auto-Stick and all season performance tires... not a stick shift (most likely this person's biggest problem) and summer tires.

If you start out in 1st or 2nd gear on a stick, you have to be pretty good on the clutch to keep it from spinning.

Plus, I bet the driver had no extra weight in the rear cargo area. (I would have put another 200 or 300 pounds back there if I could).

I am considering that next winter, but in the manual the says maximum weight capacity is 415 lbs. Now with me being 200, and possible a friend being 200, that's 400, don't want to load 200 lbs in the back and have 600 lbs when the max recommended it 415.

With someone else in the car it's not a big deal... and I always understood that maximum weight capacity was in addition to the passengers, but I've been wrong before.

My wife and I were in the car along with probably about 150 lbs of luggage, so it wasn't as if the car wasn't 'laden'.

Get a set of Blizzaks, and you do not have to worry about being stuck anywhere.

I have gone through almost 10 inches of snow with no problem.
