Removing Headlights
Removing Headlights
I recently purchased a new set of headlights on ebay to replace my current ones. Upon trying to remove the old ones, I noticed that there appear to be 4 screws that hold the headlamp in, yet my hand can only reach 2 of them. Has anyone had to remove the headlight before, and, if so, how did you get to the bottom two screws?
If your dealer did it for you I'm not interested in your story, obviously.
Thanks.

Re: Removing Headlights
I was reading it in the service manual several days ago and it mentioned removing the bottom two bolts through an access in the fender well. I have not looked, nor attempted it, but I'm wondering if they are talking about through the access behind the fog lights?
The reason I happened to be reading that is because that's the way they recommend changing the bulbs...by removing the whole headlight assembly first.

Re: Removing Headlights
Have you downloaded the service manual from this thread? It should help.

And here is where you find the service manual:

I've only owned a Crossfire for less than 2 weeks but I have to tell you that this manual answers just about every question you can have. I downloaded it and then open it by itself; it's a very large file and tends to bog down my computer and mine is pretty good. It's about 3,300 pages in a .pdf format.

Re: Removing Headlights
Ok... was replacing a headlight bulb today and the spring clip came out and dropped down inside the headlight assemly. Are you telling me that in order to get this out by removing the headlight totally, and shaking it, that I have to remove the bumper???
Please help before I attempt.....

Re: Removing Headlights
HI MI1XFIRE That worked a treat. There is a large bolt at the bottom of the headlight assembly which needs to clear the bumper at the bottom of the headlight. By undoing the two bolts it gives just enough flex of the bumper to twist the headlight over the bumper and pop the headlight out. Careful not to scratch the bumper with the bolt though so do it with care.
Thanks again for the response. Hope this helps someone else someday.
