Garage Opener
I read the online manual and still can't figure out how to program the garage opener.
I called chrysler and they know nothing about it, not even that its in the car.
Someone give me a step by step process please.
Also i tried the video instruction thing on homelink.com and it didn't work. My garage door opener unit has no buttons on it for the rolling code part.

My homelink garage door opener works well. Range is almost a full city block to open or close my garage doors. Please note that your garage door operator must be 1982 or newer. Just follow the instructions as detailed in the manual. It only took me 10-15 minutes.
My door opener is less than 2 years old. Its a genie.
I tried the manual method and the homelink.com method, no luck.
I put the key in and turned it 2 clicks, that's the run mode I'm guessing?

If there is a little wire on the unit, bend it straight down its the antennae. Drive your car directly under it if possible. Also there should be a button on the unit called a "learning switch", this should be covered in the openers manual.

Arcrist don't feel bad I still haven't figured mine out. I'll retry what I've read here when it gets a little warmer. Glad you were able to get yours working. I got our Volvo to work but not the Crossfire. I usually spend several hours trying and then get super frustrated and give up and forget about it, now that you have reminded me...

It was only a couple of months ago that I finally got to use the homelink buttons.
The garage door opener I've had for over 20 years had stopped working by remote control a couple of years ago (pre-XF), and I've been getting in and out of the car to use a key switch ever since. When the motor burned out in January, I finally replaced it with a new Sears unit.
Since then, it's been great! I had no problem programming it as per the directions in the Chrysler manual and the garage door manual's homelink guide. And the range is fantastic.
I even programmed my Plug 'n Power light switch system into the car and now I can turn on the house lights before I even get out of the car!

When I first got my car, July of 2005 one of the first things I did was try and program the garage door opener. Followed the directions to a tee. After two hours I gave up. A few weeks later same thing. Every so often I tried but no luck. Even went on the Homelink site and I was doing everything they suggested. So last night I decide its time again to try. I had my wife hit the learn button on the opener while I sat in the car and pressed the homelink button. Still nothing. This went on for a half hour and I was told "just use your opener like you have been" and she went inside to watch TV. By this time I was determined, another half hour, many curse words flew and then as I was just about to take my wife's advise B I N G O ! The homelink light flickered, the opener light when on and off and it works! I have no idea what I did, not a clue but now I can put away my Craftsman door opener and open it like it was meant to be opened. My only suggestion to those of you who still haven't figured it out...don't give up, maybe one day it'll work just like mine, but like me you'll be clueless at to how you did it!

I have a 2004 and tried to program mine with the owners manual instructions but with no luck. The manual does reference the Homelink website but I never bothered to look at it until now. My 04 required programming using the following method and now it works !!
I have a "LIFTMASTER" door opener 8 years old.
Instructions:
At the garage door opener receiver (motorhead unit) in the garage, locate the “learn” or “smart” button (usually near where the hanging antenna wire is attached to the unit).
Press and release the “learn” or “smart” button (the name and color of the button may vary by manufacturer). NOTE: Once the button is pressed, there are 30 seconds in which to initiate the next step.
Return to the vehicle and firmly press and hold the trained HomeLink button for two seconds and release. Repeat the “press/hold/release” sequence up to 3 times to complete the training process.
I must have done that one 50 times. I think what finally worked was holding the remote right up to the buttons and pushing the learn button at the same time. My wife's Volvo has the same 3 button garage door open on her sunvisor. It took me all of ten minutes to program that so I don't get why this one is such a PIA?
