Default Driving from Baltimore to Miami-July 4th

Me and my friend are going to drive from Baltimore to Miami, South beach for the 4th of July week. Its 1,110 Miles. And i figured we can make it in 15-16 hours. I was either planning on leaving on a Friday around noon. Or Friday around 6 pm. If we leave at noon we will get there hopeful from 3-4 am, but i think that will be too early. But really anytime you leave your are going to have to drive through traffic. But if you leave at 6. You might catch a hour or so in traffic. That way you will be there by 9-10 am. Saturday. Anyone have any better ideas on what time to leave for a 16 hour ride. and avoid traffic? and still get there early enough not to waste the saturday? Also anyone know any places on the way we should stop and see?

I went the Orlando Speedway GTG 2 weeks ago and I left 5:30 AM very little traffic and as you go through Northern Virginia most of the traffic is headed north and by the time you get to Richmond rush hour is almost over plus you can take the 295 bypass around Richmond its quicker than staying on 95 S. I made it to Orlando in 14 hours which was pretty good time for the trip. It is a holiday week so traffic is going to be a little heavier than normal so I don't think you'll make it in 16 hours probably more like 17 to 18 hours and that's if you make good time. I thought it was a great drive and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

P.S. I'll be leaving that same friday for Myrtle Beach maybe we'll come across each other during the trip.

Well i talked to over with my friend, and we figured we would leave around 7. That is if we miss all the traffic going south from Baltimore, and all the other states rush hour will be over. So if it takes 16-17 hours that will put is at 11am - Noon. Is it still good. That way i don't have to take off work Friday since i'm already going to take off 5 days. And out hotel room doesn't become available until noon anyway. And as far as coming home we thought about leaving around 1am Sunday. That way we can party all Saturday. Then leave after the party is over, so that would put is back home in Baltimore around 5-6. Just as rush hour gets going, but its usually not to bad around here on 95 North. I know that will be kill though. Since that will be being up from around 10 am Saturday, party all day until 1am, then drive 15-16 hours home. Then i basically plan on sleeping the rest of the day to get ready for work Monday. Oh I also plan on taking turns driving with my friend, so it would only be about 3 hour stretch of driving at a time.

South of the Border is tacky as heck, but you should experience it, anyways. It's a roadside stand on steroids.
