Tiptronic is not the same thing as having a clutch.
[sarcasm] I'm sure you didn't. [/sarcasm]

And yet i bet that the SRT6 is a lot more fun to drive then a 6-speed.

Depends on what you like I guess.

I used to own a 2002 C32 AMG and I prefer the 6-speed Crossfire on a windy road any day. I always regretted buying that car because it was an auto.

fflores ... i have to agree on the fun factor ... driven both and the 6 speed takes the prize for fun. however its not like that with all cars as i really hate the transmission in our srt-4 ... those 5 speeds are horrible clunkers ... even my 98 R/T neon had a better transmission that help the power i put down with a T3 S60 very nicely.

i must say the xf automatic is by far my favorite auto trans i have had extended driving experience with ... it just feels as close to a manual (in s mode) as it can.

fflores i must ask how did your srt-4 local group react to the new ride ?

They loved it... our club is a "SRT" club.. just happened that most of us had SRT4's.. but we did have a few people with 8's, for the most part, hanging out with a "Car Club" is a younger persons game.. most owners of SRT cars minus the srt4 are older people and not the demographic that you would find hanging out with car clubs. As of late a couple of us have upgraded cars from srt-4's to my 6, my buddies SRT8 Magnum and someone just picked up a viper.
