Thumbs up Important questions

I was thinking about getting a crossfire that is under warranty. With all this stuff going on with chrysler will that give complications when trying to get something fixed or serviced? I just read in a previous forum that someone sold their crossfire for a freaking civic! he said it had to do with all the stuff that is going on at chrysler... WHAT STUFF?!
so my 2 questions would be =
1.) warranty issue

2.) WTF is going on with chrysler.? LOL

Thanks,
Justin

Besides incompetent mechanics and service managers, your warranty will still be in affect. But remember the 3 year 36,000 miles is from the date your car was made, not the model year. So if you get a early 2004 it might be made in 2003 so your 3 year will end earlier. Also Chrysler was just sold and is no long Daimler Chrysler.

Not true. It is from the date the car is put in service, but you would definitely be smart to check and see what date that is.

Umm... are you sure. I was told, and have the paperwork, saying my 2004 coupe was built in august 2003. Therefore my warranty expires in 2006.

in a previous thread that i do not recall the writer of ... the persons car was registered by the dealer before it was sold so his warranty expired in two years and seven months lets say but if they had registered the car at the time of his purchase he would of gotten the full three years. this registration was with chrysler which basically tells them someone has purchased the car.

i for one could care less for the warranty as the techs for this car do not reside in chrysler dealerships... take it to mercedes for repairs and just tell em to pretend its a SLK...

so will it be harder to get service now that chrysler has been sold ? no, their service always sucked with these cars ... it can't get any worse now. if something really big comes up its off to the mercedes dealer and hope they don't mind the ******* child being in their bays... lol.

Danimal is right, i bought my '04 used in '05 it was from when it was 1st put in service. I did buy an extended warranty from Chrysler which would be a good idea for you MiniCooperS.
As far as service i haven't had any problems with my dealer, you can end up with bad service on any car, my dad has a Mercedes he had to change dealer because he had so much problems with the first dealers service, he kept going back with the same problem.

Yeah...I'm sure. I have all of the paperwork too, as well as the sticker on the door that tells when mine was built...but that has nothing to do with the warranty expiration, unless Chrysler put it in service on the day of manufacture (doubtful). Stop by the dealership, give them the VIN, and ask for the in service date to find when the warranty time expires.

Now...mileage is whole different story.

Cool Re: Important questions

Your warranty kicks in the day you purchase (in service) the car.

Talking Re: Important questions

From what I am reading, Mercedes will still maintain 20% ownership in Chrysler. Also the deal with Chrysler being sold should not be finalized until October of this year. The biggest thing we all should see is with the UAW. I'm reading that the new majority share holder is expected to file bankruptcy after the deal is finalized which will drastically cut the cost of labor when it comes to building the Chrysler line up of vehicles. Not my opinion, just what I'm reading in the news.
Our Crossfires will be safe.
