Default Single Wrench

I changed my oil @ 7,850 and the dealer didn't reset the FSS so I read the manual and reset it my self.

At the time it was a "double wrench" (service B), after the reset it changed to single wrench and after 1,000 miles still shows single (service A and 6k left).

Is this an issue, I only ask because my driving is exactly the same in miles terrain and traffic.

Not an issue. This is the way it should work, as it alternates between service 'A' and 'B'. Your next service is 'A' (one wrench) and you have 6,000 miles to go before it's due.

I thought it was based on driving conditions, so its a dummy system that just counts down?

Well it does take into account driving conditions and other parameters, but the base schedule is every 7.5K miles, and it will adjust from there.

its not a dummy system at all it says 7k at the beginning but after about 4.5k of driving it says its time for the service for me... I guess 7k is just a maximum that it starts at and then takes into account your driving styles and greatly lowers the FSS number. But I think that the system still overdoes the service time and I usually perform single wrench service every 3 - 3.5k miles... although the motor is very strong it still must be serviced very well to keep it that way... on the contrary I know a few cars where the owner with similar driving styles as me changes the oil every 10k+ miles...

The FSS can be based on time (shows a clock face and days remaining) or distance (miles remaining) depending upon your driving habits. My odometer shows 5,600 miles in 3 years and I require service every 1 1/2 years.

Hi all, first post. I just love my new (to me) Crossfire but this FSS system just baffles the heck out of me. I saw the service schedule chart that was posted previously and it seems to indicate the A and B checks every 10k miles alternating A and B. My '04 has 33k miles on it and when I push the button by the speedo it shows a single wrench and 900 by it. Is that an indication that the A check was performed at 30k and never reset or what. There are many, many Crossfire experts on this forum as I can tell by the intelligent posts I've read. Would one of you please post a clear, concise synopsis of how the FSS system is supposed to work? I did download the service manual (80 Mb, 3,307 pages, WOW!!) and I'm quite handy around an engine or any mechanical contraption but I can't figure out this maintenance schedule. I'm sure there are others that would appreciate the advice of a Crossfire expert.

First, welcome to the forum! There's a lot of great info here. To answer your FSS question, it means you have about 900 miles left before a service "A" is due. It will count down faster or slower depending on your driving style.

Open up your copy of the service manual and start reading from page 0-11 (page 22 of the .pdf). You will find it enlightening...

Thanks, bobs, for the welcome and the info. I see now that the FSS gauges your driving style and either adds or subtracts miles before the next oil change/inspection. What had me off was the other scheduled events like fuel filter, air filter, torque the steering locknuts, etc. The chart had them falling at a certain mileage and on an A or B check. How it works is if the event falls due for mileage just do it no matter what check you are on.
